About this listen
But things don't go as planned. Plagued by a heroin habit, forced to go on the run after the only credible witness to Victoria's murder is accidentally killed, wanted by both the Colorado cops and the Ulster police, Alex struggles just to stay alive.
Gritty, with spot-on dialogue and black humor, Hidden River is a dynamic thriller.

A drag
Slogged my way through this over 5 days packing, unpacking moving house.
Like the house, I never thought the book would end.
Usually I like the author but. I stuck it to the bitter end.

Really enjoyable
Not the normal who done it. Very engrossing and interesting. The narration could be annoying to some it was boarder line for me but I just went with it.

Great story, terrible narration
If you can get past the terrible pretend Northern Irish accent (maybe he would be better just using his own accent, I guess Irish accent) this is just so irritating. BUT if you can stick with it, excellent storyline, plenty of intrigue. I think this is one of the 1st novels that touch’s on N.Ireland politics, policing etc that is not biased in either way. Also author has a wide knowledge of religious beliefs, American history, and geographical knowledge of the areas and brings this all together just enough for me to make it even more interesting, but not bogged down in detail. Slightly concerned about his in depth knowledge of heroine usage but hopefully that is just good research on his behalf 😉. Can’t wait to try another Adrian McKinty.

Definitely recommend this
I saw that a previous reviewer said this was a bit weird, and I agree, but in a good way! Brilliant descriptions of a man previously full of promise who has made mistakes, far in the past and more recently. And fate presents an opportunity to redeem them. Set against the background of the troubles in Northern Ireland - interesting historical detail. Narrator perfect for this book.

Reasonable
The Belfast accent is a musical, melodic sound. This narration did not do it well, but if you can stick with it it does improve. Story ok, bit unnecessarily wordy at times, and an easy guess as to “ whodunnit” well before the ending. Enjoyable enough, though.

Listen to this one
Beauitfully written, the story meanders along at its own pace. But honestly it's well worth it . I hope it's final lines stay in my head for some time .
