About this listen
One brave act. An unexpected reward.
Fitzwilliam Darcy's uncle has insisted he finally remain in town for the full season. Ill at ease in London society, he makes a cutting remark about Elizabeth Bennet, a woman he's barely met. But she is not unprotected, and when an earl demands he make amends, he reluctantly complies.
Darcy is prepared to deal with yet another fortune hunter, but Elizabeth's kindness towards society's wallflowers and her quiet bravery in the face of adversity slowly wear away his prejudices. As his admiration grows, so does his dilemma. Can he convince Elizabeth to trust him, to see beyond his earlier rudeness and recognize his changed heart? Or will his initial misstep and Elizabeth's own guarded nature keep them apart?

Mostly enjoyable story with some flaws; great narrator
As usual Harry Frost does a great job with narration.
I enjoyed most of this story until chapter 27. Then I felt that Elizabeth went very out of character and it took me out of the story. Elizabeth faces problems bravely. It seemed very unlikely she would go into a decline, shut herself up for a week and have a breakdown. Then there was some unnecessary talking to God and excessive soul searching. Apart from those chapters I enjoyed the book.

Different but excellent
I’m an avid P&P variation listener (76 at last count). I was skeptical about this one as the plot has barely any resemblance to the original, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s more a totally different novel, with familiar characters, but no less enjoyable for such. Harry Frost is magnificent as always.
It would have been nice to have a bit more inclusion of notable characters such as Lady Catherine and the younger Bennett sisters, but an enjoyable listen nonetheless.

Fabulous, if I could of given a 10 star I would
This book is everything you want from a book with the P&P characters. I won't call it a "variation" as such because this story stands on its own two feet without the over done tales of Wickham & the younger Bennett girls. This however made a wonderful refreshing change.
I had a ball listening to it & absolutely
loved the attention to detail & the careful depiction of the Ton in that era. I do so wish more authors would be so historically correct regarding the era. I also loved the details of clothes, balls & Gunters etc. The friendships were heartwarming & the bullies got their just desserts so all goodness.
Darcy & Miss Elizabeth were at their very best so I absolutely adored every minute. The excellent Harry Frost just sealed the deal for me.
Please can we have more from this author, read by Harry Frost, who is amongst my favourite narrators.

An Enjoyable Listen❣️
Having listened to a large number of P&P variations I’ve reached the point I want to listen to variations far removed from the original. This is one such variation. The integrity of the characters remains the same but the storyline is very different and takes place in London during the season at the residence of Lord & Lady Carlisle. I don’t want to give any spoilers but definitely recommend. The narrator is good as usual.
