About this listen

Turn the phone off, lock yourself away, and give your mind the holiday it deserves from the cares and stresses of this world when you read the latest volume of cult author Tom Slemen’s Haunted Liverpool. It is always an event when Tom publishes a new book and this one is definitely no exception. In this chilling volume of more than 30 chapters - with many chapters containing more than one story - you will meet the Faceless Bride of Lime Street and you will also be introduced to Anfield’s unknown ghostly woman before visiting the creepy establishment known as The Devil’s Arms, where everything is just too good to be true. You will not find the usual hackneyed stories of supernatural cliché in this volume; you will find extraordinary and sometimes surreal terror lurking that will play on your mind and possibly inspire a nightmare or two.

You will be greeted by the terrifying Tickler - a bizarre entity which attempts to tickle his victims to death, and you will learn about the Yovar - a race of ancient beings who are said to be even more evil than the Devil. There are accounts of timeslips in this amazing book and tales of witchcraft, possession and nercomancy; furthermore, you will listen to two spine-chilling accounts of haunted sleepovers and an unearthly story about two strange deities who resurrected a heroin addict. Lose yourself in the uncanny story of the teenager who fell in love with a satyr, but peruse the chapter on omens of death at your own risk, and do not dwell too long on the unsettling accounts of the ghost that gets around - the Night Maiden - or she may pay you a visit. These are just some of the terrors you will encounter in Haunted Liverpool 30....

a great collection

I really enjoyed this collection of stories, they gave a very human aspects to the haunting and encounters they recounted.

Nigel Peever is an excellent narrator and lends real authority to the telling of these stories.

I was given this audiobook for free and have left this review voluntarily.

Excellent

A convincing narrator commands enough authority to leave you considering the truths behind these chilling stories

Thoroughly Enjoyable

Really enjoy this series. This is the fourth one I've now listened to. I imagine the narrator (Nigel Peever) sitting in a high backed winged chair wearing period dress while reading from a thick, leather bound tome.

An absolute delight.

Dregs...

I've loved Tom Slemen Haunted Liverpool books but this seems scraping the barrel. just really disappointed with these stories. The giant ladies breastfeeding a grown man... and the stories don't get any better, that just concluded my utter disappointment of an otherwise great series of books.

Fantastical and not enough ghosts

The earlier books in the series are eerie. This is now getting ridiculous. Not enough hauntings. Too many demons, monsters, folklore. How these can be considered true when Sleman seems to be able to recount conversation in finite detail I don’t know. It’s a lot made of a little. Get back to the ghostly experiences please.
