Much more interesting than the last book.
I loved this book. Lots of stories about familiar characters, so cleverly intertwined that I was always eager to find out what happened to them next!
The link with Harpers store was subtly maintained throughout without being intrusive.
I am about to start on the next book!

Terrible accents
Great story with excellent female leads involving World War One subject matter. Completely RUINED by the accents from the narrator. Romantic scenes fascial almost comedic! Working class voices felt like they couldn’t speak properly, very poor and insensitive almost discriminated. Other voices sounds like they are speaking through their noses. Made it hard to listen to especially as story line was good. Really spoiled it. I’ve listened to over 200 books but this is by far the worst performance discriminative to working class and women.

Voice/narrator ruins this
Another lovely story but it’s ruined by the woman narrating it. The one who did the first two books was great but since then it has been terrible. Sally (who is from East London and grew up in an orphanage) is suddenly incredibly well spoken and new character Sadie has the most ridiculous speech impediment that the narrator has made up for her. Ruins it.
Hoping that the next book has gone back to the original voices!

Really looked forward to listening.
I found myself listening at every opportunity. It was a lovely story.
The accents of some characters have changed since the first book though.

Good story but awful narrator
Narrator totally spoils the story. Loved the first 2 books with the original narrator but this one is awful.

Wonderful story, narration terrible
I have really enjoyed this series but OMG, the narrator was so bad,, she seemed to be getting confused with which character she was. For instance
Sadie stared fine but near the end she had a lisp and gruff voice.
Sally got posher by each paragraph.
Rachel sounded like a spoilt child and then her accent changed and she grew up a bit…
So disappointed

WW1
Mediocre narrator spoilt what could have been so much better. I enjoyed the story about so many brave men and women. We baby boomers benefited from their sacrifices.

Great story, questionable narration
The Narrator was changed after the first 2 books in this series which isn’t great to do 3 books in. The book and content are great, very enjoyable but since this is an audio book app the narrator is super-central to the storyline. A couple of the characters sound very over-twee and one develops a lisp 3/4 way through the book.
