Great Story - Easy to Listen to

This is a fabulous edition of Greek history. I am involved with a classical curriculum high school and we are looking for some materials for recommended summer reading, this will go on the list for recommended summer listening. This edition makes Greek history interesting and it tells the story in a beautiful and attractive fashion. The free PDF that goes along with it is absolutely excellent and the table of contents makes it very easy to listen to individual sections that are digestible and a complete body of material that you can understand before you move on to the next segment. My personal favorite chapter was 3 and the material about the Greek Dark Ages.... history just repeats itself??!! I am very excited to hear how our students response to this at the end of the summer. Thanks for a great addition to Greek history

an interesting listen

History is not my thing, but listening to this provided some interesting details that weren't discussed during school.

There were a few things that stuck out, especially since I had heard of them, but depending on the source, the information could be a bit different.

It is heartbreaking to know that it was true that boys were removed from their families at the age of 7 to learn to fight. Considering that they fought for their people as teens, some of them never lived a full life. It was nice to be reminded that the women of Sparta had more rights than women from other places.

It is also amazing to see how languages and writing help to influence other civilizations and their means of evolving communication.

Although, I am shocked to hear about some of the history of Macedonian royalty, but when you have that many wives, some are bound to be greedy and/or angry.

Either way, this audiobook does an awesome job of presenting the important information in a way that isn't compact, but isn't overbearing. It gives the listeners something to think about.

Echoes of Antiquity

In this book by Aeon History, listeners are taken on a journey through the fascinating epochs of ancient Greek civilization.

Chapter two, focusing on the Mycenaean Age, transported me back to my childhood days spent exploring ancient ruins and archaeological sites with my family. As I listened to the tales of Mycenae's mighty warriors and the splendor of their civilization,

I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and nostalgia. Even now, as an adult, I find myself drawn to the mysteries of ancient Greece, eager to uncover the secrets of its past and delve deeper into its rich cultural heritage.

Bartley's narration infuses the book with a sense of grandeur and intrigue.
