Summary

After an alien invasion devastates humanity, a battered group of survivors huddles in a remote outpost, fighting to endure in a now-hostile world. Resources are dwindling, and internal power struggles threaten to tear apart the fragile last vestige of human society.

Emily Baxter remains haunted by vivid dreams of Earth's new masters. With these nightmares comes concern for her son, Adam, the posthuman world's firstborn child - a child who is ominously marked with red-flecked eyes. While Emily's husband is off on a dangerous mission, she is accused of committing an unthinkable crime and resolves to clear her name by journeying, along with her stepdaughter and their dog, Thor, into the alien wilderness that was once Earth.

All around Emily lurk mysterious new dangers that threaten her and her companions at every turn. Are these perils the final stages of an apocalyptic invasion or the harbinger of something even worse yet to come?

Hurry with the last book

Really love this series. It simply draws you in at every listen.

The story is quite riveting, as well as intriguing.

Narration seems a little off in this one from Emily, but still well done overall.

Well worth the listen.

Wonderful cliffhanger introduction

A great continuation. Another adventure through the red world and its foes. Well narrated. Surprises.

Great series, ever changing and captivating storyline.

Love this ‘end of world’ genre and this series captures it completely. High moving and ever changing you cannot wait to read the next book. I read this in Audible and found it very well narrated. Hope the next one lives up to the rest.
Would make a great film!

Genesis 4 th in series

I have enjoyed this series by Paul Antony Jones. He has written some of the most imaginative and clever and compelling sci fi I have come across. However the fourth in the series has felt a little overplayed and it would be good to see some other main character development as it is beginning to resemble groundhog day (albeit a red one). Narration is still an issue with Emily Berrisford's awful british/scottish accents but not as much as in book 3 as these characters not around as much. A real shame as she is very good apart from that

Baby love

The last. Ok I read in this series must have been a year ago and I thought the series fabulous reading then. I've had Genesis in my library some time and somehow not listened / read the book. What a mistake. Fabulously exciting , a complete page turner one of the best post apocalyptic series I've come across . A Must Read ( the whole series )

Crap then amazing

Started to degenerate into people having an argument maybe people would act like that but I hate a scifi book that centers on people doing stupid stuff and arguing.

Really made me mad when I found this was the last on audible... You think the story is over them boom!

Brilliant

What a fantastic story, a real roller coaster, couldn't stop listening. Superb story descriptions that easily and vividly illustrate your imagination whilst reading. Can't wait for book 5

Had to give up

The narration was so awful I gave up. Now reading it on Kindle, for free. A good book spoiled. Surely the narration could be improved or refunds offered.

What a disappointment!

After a good start to the series (books 1 & 2), it quickly went downhill with book 4 even worse than book 3. The plot is formulaic and simplistic in structure (oh it's been 3 chapters since anything interesting's happened so let's have a random rockfall). The story moves at snail-like speed and feels like padding's added merely to ensure there's a book 5. Hardly a hint of intrigue anywhere making this the opposite of a 'real page-turner'. And as for the narration - anything other than a North American accent is farcical plus so many mispronounciations of every day words. All in all, books 3 and 4 are definitely to be missed.
