Summary
Irene Adler wird von Mycroft Holmes nach Wien geschickt, wo sie einen Mann namens Hans Gruber treffen soll. Doch als sie seine Wohnung erreicht, liegt der Mann tot auf der Straße. Gruber war einer Geheimorganisation auf der Spur, die offenbar eine große Sache plant. Irene macht die Bekanntschaft mit dem Schauspieler Franz, dem Freund des Toten, der sie fortan bei ihren Ermittlungen unterstützt. Doch bald darauf geraten sie zwischen die Fronten der Polizei und der Mörder, die ihnen auf den Fersen sind. Die Spuren führen schließlich zum Prater. Auf dem Riesenrad kommt es zu einer dramatischen Auseinandersetzung. Dort fällt auch die Maske des Mörders, dem Irene ausgeliefert ist.
