About this listen
It’s Blair Brawsiski’s ride or die year. After a decade in the AHL, if he doesn’t get called up to the NHL this season, it’s time to hang up his skates and focus on other things. But between a second job and family priorities, his attention isn’t where it should be, and his dreams of making it to the big leagues are dwindling by the day.
Hiring a personal assistant to help out with day-to-day stuff? Probably the smartest move Blair’s made in a while.
But when that PA turns out to be an assertive baker who’s exactly Blair’s type? Blair can’t help but wish those dexterous hands would knead something other than pastry dough.
Charlie desperately needs extra income. With his expenses about to go up, it’s find a second job or get evicted. Getting hired as Blair’s PA is perfect: flexible hours, decent wages, and a scorching-hot professional hockey player who’s willing to let him use his gorgeous kitchen for his baked goods.
Too bad that hockey player is exactly Charlie’s type. Too bad Charlie knows better than to date his new boss....

OMG - Amy Aislin has written another wonderful hockey story. It's always difficult for me to pick a favorite character - and I'm not saying that Charlie or Blair are my overall favorites, but they are certainly my current favorite characters. 🥰 Both of these guys are so sweet!
I can always count on Amy Aislin’s books to provide me with a wonderful, emotional reading experience and Game Changer certainly did that. She writes a lot of books about hockey but they never, ever feel like the same story with only a few changes. I hope that makes sense. What I’m trying to say is that each of her books is a unique and wonderful reading experience. I was an early fan of her writing; the first book I read was in 2017 and I think I’ve read everything she’s published since then.
The blub is wonderful but one thing it didn’t touch on is that Charlie has some pretty deep-seated feelings about people leaving him and feeling rejected. These feelings come into play as his relationship with Blair becomes closer. His mom and dad divorced when he was 12 and she moved away and started a new family quite a distance away from Vancouver. He started a new business with a friend and before it even got off the ground – but after a lot of expenses were incurred – the friend left for a job in Europe.
I absolutely devoured this story and I’m looking forward to reading Game On which is about Charlie’s cousin, Dorian, who was a fairly prominent character in Game Changer. Game On is currently scheduled to release next January.

Such a sweet and romantic story!

I loved Blair, he's such a sweetheart. Far too nice for his own good, though. He really needed to grow a backbone where his family was concerned.
Can definitely be read as a standalone. Although the couple from book one are in this but that doesn’t impact on the story at all.
This is a new to me narrator and they did a good job. I'd have like a stronger difference between the character voices but that's just my personal preference.

When the two meet, they felt a connection that was steadily building. The romance that develops now is sweet. I was glad when they decided to give a relationship a chance.
It's about friends and love, but also about family with all its many facets. I liked the character development of Charlie and Blair. They are very sweet together. And I loved it when Charlie was baking. The slow burn story is entertaining and feel good.
Aaron Hokanson narrated the audiobook. I liked his way of narrating the story. He did a good job and I really enjoyed listening to his pleasant voice. I was able to distinguish the characters well and always knew who was speaking.
Sweet and Fun

There was very little angst and it was just overall a really cute and sweet book. It ended fairly abruptly but it was such a happy ending that I can’t have any real issues with it.
Cannot wait to delve into more of Amy Aislin’s audiobooks.
Another great audio performance

This can easily be read as a standalone. We were introduced to these characters in book 1 but I dont feel as though anything would be lost by reading this book alone.
This was a super sweet, low angst story with a little added humor throughout. The sparks were instant between these 2 and unstoppable even though they are reluctant to mix business with pleasure.
I enjoyed these 2 characters together and thought they made a great couple. It was low steam read and a nice slow burn romance. On their own I didn't love these characters and they had to grow on me. Blair was a sweet family man but he came off as a pushover who let his family take advantage of him to his own detriment of burnout and missing dream career opportunities. I wanted to scream at him multiple times. Charlie was very insecure and had major abandonment issues from his past. He also majorly struggled with trust and money issues. He is living alone for the first time despite being a grown man and is not handling it well at all. So he needs this job and doesn't want to risk it. Hence his resistance.
I didn't much care for any of the side characters the majority of the story despite the HEA for all the characters at the end. The world building was great and the one great character exception was Dorian. I enjoyed Dorians character alot. I'm looking forward to his story next.
This was a new to me narrator (other than book 1) and he seems to be a new narrator in general but he did a great job with it. His voice was very pleasant to listen to and he kept a good flow and pace. He expressed the emotions well and he gave each of the characters distinct voices so I could easily follow the story. I really enjoyed listening to it. It was even better than the book 1 performance.
Sweet story. Even better than the first

Charlie and Blair are perfect for each other! They seem different but really they're almost exactly the same. Each with their baggage and insecurities.
I like the flow of this one. Not as much hockey as book 1 but just enough to keep the action and thrill going.
I'm looking forward to sassy and closed off Dorian's book and what Amy will do with him!!!
Sweet and fun!

Blair is an over-worked, scatterbrained, hot mess at the beginning of the novel. With Charlie’s assistance (& support and eventual love) he morphs into a doting boyfriend who excels at his chosen career and maintains strong family bonds. Charlie himself goes from flailing (in debt, living on his own for the first time, unsure how he’s going to pay the bills) to being a sure-footed small business owner. Through it all, their love blossoms and grows and they each become stronger because of the other.
Full of apology flour, an apology sandwich and guilt smoothies, Aislin has a lyrical voice in storytelling. She has created a wonderful tale and Hokanson’s already showing growth is his narration, despite this being a new gig for him. He has a firm, soothing voice with already increasing inflection and tones.
Can’t wait for more stories in this series.

The two MCs, Charlie and Blair were great characters and I loved seeing them get together.
Blair annoyed me with the way he would help out his family to the detriment of his own needs and I really wanted him to say no and start taking time for the things that were important in his career and personal life sooner than he did.
Charlie was such a sunshiny character and I really enjoyed getting to know him.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the other cousins in future books.
Loved the MCs
