About this listen
Seen as a strong-willed, tenacious leader who saved the United States from the Great Depression and the death and destruction that could have been through World War II, Franklin Delano Roosevelt solidified the nation's place as a world superpower. As a dominant leader of his party, he built the New Deal Coalition, which realigned American politics into the Fifth Party System.
You’ll listen about:
- Personal Darkness: Polio
- The Eternal Optimist
- Serving, Without Crippling Fear, Until the End
- And much more!
His third and fourth terms were dominated by World War II. During the first 100 days of the 73rd United States Congress and in the first "100 days" as the president of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt succeeds in getting many legislations through Congress, which creates the alphabet agencies which would lead to economic relief recovery and reform for the many suffering citizens of the nation.

Quick sketch of FDR's life
Felt like a slightly extended Wikipedia article, but worth a listen if looking for a high level overview of his life and times, including how Roosevelt navigated his country through The Great Depression and an existential war on 2 fronts- despite suffering from debilitating polio.
Don't expect to have insight into his psyche, or a critique of hiscstyle, or to learn more about the tradeoffs FDR wood have made. But you will hear a little more colour to augment those historic black and white photos... including one intriguing reason we don't have any colour pictures of him in the first place.
