Summary

Handpicked by Rhys Bowen, Jasmine Blackborow is the dazzling narrator for the 12th installment of Rhys Bowen's best-selling Royal Spyness Mystery series.

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live.

Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. With Darcy off in parts unknown, Georgie makes her way to Eynsleigh alone, only to find the grounds in disarray, and the small staff suspiciously incompetent. Not to mention the gas tap leak in her bedroom, which is beginning to look like an attempt on her life. Something sinister is afoot - and bringing the place up to snuff may put Georgie six feet under before she even gets a chance to walk down the aisle....

Narrator

I love this series and this book tied up lots of loose ends. I wouldn't be suprised if it was the last in the series! As for the Audiobook Jasmine did a good job but I missed hearing Katherine Kellgren as Georgie. RIP Katherine.

Great story, but hugely lacklustre performance.

The story was funny, exciting, and really held up to the previous books, however the narration was a huge letdown. I realise Jasmine had huge shoes to fill, but I truly believe she was the wrong choice. Many of the voices were indistinguishable and the accents fluctuated between English, Scottish, American and sometimes even an odd Spanish/Italian (and not when they were meant to). Most frustrating of all, Jasmine pronounces the main characters NAME (and title/home) differently, which makes listening for the dedicated Royal Spyness audiobook fan extremely difficult. I really struggled to get through.

Not the best storyline

I found after the first five minutes that I was more than happy with the new narrator. However I found storyline very weak and apart from one surprise death was able to predict throughout what was going to happen

The One To Hear

In my opinion, books 1, 2 and 12 (this one £ are the books to read in this series, as there is no character development throughout. The story in this is quite novel and we see some resolutions (however I wonder where they will live)! I may get the next one, but after that, I’m done with this series.

A new narrator, following the death of the previous longstanding one. A good replacement in that, she can mimic most of the voices, but she’s not as loud and strident as her predecessor - I prefer that - although that makes Belinda and ‘Her Grace’ sound less perky, and grandad sound old. But at least she doesn’t hype up every single plot change!

Story excellent as always. Let down by narration

I really enjoyed the plot, but how I wish the new narrator had at least bothered to find out how to pronounce 'rannoch,' It grated throughout the book

Storylines finally completing

Nice to finally hear realistic English accents, though Katherine did a good try - could never get past the dates being read as American rather than English. Only irritation was the Rannoch pronunciation change, feel this was more a fault of the production team though as they should have pointed it out.
Other than that, it was nice to finally get to a conclusion with some of the storylines, so that the author can concentrate on new mystery plots.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Four Funerals and Maybe a Wedding

With many weddings in the horizon one by one a death prevented them from happening, with an offer of an estate to move into Lady Georgina found strange things happening. Really sad to hear about Katherine Kellgren, but Jasmine Blackborow has done a wonderful job.

the new Narrator

If only the new narrator had listened to at least one of the original 11 books as the only thing that ,annoyed me is that Lady Georgiana had obviously changed her last name and move castles.
