About this listen

Handpicked by Rhys Bowen, Jasmine Blackborow is the dazzling narrator for the 12th installment of Rhys Bowen's best-selling Royal Spyness Mystery series.

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live.

Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. With Darcy off in parts unknown, Georgie makes her way to Eynsleigh alone, only to find the grounds in disarray, and the small staff suspiciously incompetent. Not to mention the gas tap leak in her bedroom, which is beginning to look like an attempt on her life. Something sinister is afoot - and bringing the place up to snuff may put Georgie six feet under before she even gets a chance to walk down the aisle....

It is a tough job to succeed Katherine Kellgren in narrating The Royal Spyness books. I think that Jasmine Blackborow has done a splendid job. The book itself is great as always, even perhaps surpassing the others in the series. Fully recommended.

Great experience

Characters that you will
Have come to love suddenly sound like precocious 7 year olds with lisps. Dreadful.
I will be giving the audio books a miss from this point on and move to the Kindle version.

Poor narration

Stepping into the shoes of the previous narrator is a big ask but was very successfully done in this charming spyness story - I have loved all the series so far as always am left with a real feel good feeling

New narrator gives a fine performance

Nice to finally hear realistic English accents, though Katherine did a good try - could never get past the dates being read as American rather than English. Only irritation was the Rannoch pronunciation change, feel this was more a fault of the production team though as they should have pointed it out.
Other than that, it was nice to finally get to a conclusion with some of the storylines, so that the author can concentrate on new mystery plots.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

At first, I was put off by the narrator's voices, being unable to distinguish characters easily and only being able to conjure up Penny, the sister in law on As Time Goes By with Judi Dench! However, it soon developed into a more natural performance and I warmed to all of them. It's amazing how one person can act all these parts so consistently. Loved the storyline - as usual I couldn't see how it would be solved!! Now disappointed that it's over :(

Couldn't put it down!

With many weddings in the horizon one by one a death prevented them from happening, with an offer of an estate to move into Lady Georgina found strange things happening. Really sad to hear about Katherine Kellgren, but Jasmine Blackborow has done a wonderful job.

I love this series and this book tied up lots of loose ends. I wouldn't be suprised if it was the last in the series! As for the Audiobook Jasmine did a good job but I missed hearing Katherine Kellgren as Georgie. RIP Katherine.

I love these books , they are fantastic period writing and the characters are so engaging. Entertaining without being dark. A great listen. Please write more !

Absolutely fantastic

I really enjoyed the plot, but how I wish the new narrator had at least bothered to find out how to pronounce 'rannoch,' It grated throughout the book

Story excellent as always. Let down by narration
