About this listen
"You should not have answered its call...."
Professor Stephen Barlow is no longer a skeptic. Having faced the horrors of Chaythe Asylum, he turns his attention to the man responsible for the Third Ward Incident - the enigmatic Dr. Corvine - in the hopes of finding answers to his many questions.
But some things, he soon learns, are better left lost to history.
Traveling to a remote cabin in Michigan in search of the doctor and his research, Stephen finds himself descending deeper into a world of terror and madness. He and his students uncover the frightful truth about Corvine's experiments and realize that they may have unleashed something terrible in their meddling.
Forest is the second novel in the Afterlife Investigations trilogy.

As much as I enjoyed this book, it didn’t feel like something you could read independently, it’s very much tied into books 1 and 3 and the degree of the mystery is slightly lessened after the intensity of the first book.
Again, Joe does a great job with the narration though and keeps you hooked right until the end.
Straight into book 3 for me!
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.
Enjoyable mystery

However, the story ends in the middle of a forest and it's clear you're going to have to read Book 3 to find out how it all ends. I felt disappointed by that and really wanted there to be a pivotal moment at the end of this one like there was in Book 1. Yes, I have Book 3 in my library and I'm going to listen to it next.
Overall, this is good. A good climax would have given it that extra star.
Doesn't finish

A strong follow up to asylum

This, the second 'part', reinforces my view as the end is abrupt and does not complete as a story in its own right - what a Trilogy is, in my opinion.
That said, I enjoyed the narration and the story so far. However, I felt it wasn't worth paying yet another credit to complete.
I hope this helps.
Felt a little cheated...

I bought thie first book and then the second book before realising it's a con!
You can for one credit buy a truly good book, by a well known author - but this - is the one book divided into 3!
If it was fantastic - than maybe. But 'the book's' are far fetched and frankly quite bland!! I won't be reading the third (the conclusion) as I won't waste another credit on this- but it's taught me a good lesson-
Some authors - are not worth it. Especially when it's obvious it's a blatant money making endevour, and not worth the one credit - let alone 3 !
So beware people -with good editing it may make the one entertaining book- but chopped into 3 books? No chance!
A royal rip off!
