Summary

A couple of months have passed since the cyborg smuggler known as Salem led a small team in the violent coup that brought down Abraxas, demon Archduke of New Golgotha’s central kingdom of Ars Goetia. From the destruction, Salem became a hero, whether he wanted to be one or not, and was appointed the first human baron in the demon-run supercity.

But Hell does not like being made to look foolish - or weak. And Salem’s actions, while noble, have consequences. A victory for man means a defeat for Hell. A single question will be asked of Salem: How far can a hero fall? The powers of Hell are willing to find out.

Flotsam Prison Blues is the gritty, exciting sequel to To Beat The Devil. Following an assassination attempt by a rocket-launching madman, Salem must untangle a web of lies, theft, and conspiracies, lest his new world, and his citizens, burn. Follow Salem’s adventures as he is forced to relive the parts of his past he wanted to stay buried while once more pitting himself against the might of Hell. Salem will need all his strength and skill as he suffers the Hell-on-Earth horrors of Flotsam Prison.

Great story charectors are great and so funny

I love this story, a hero you can actually imagine rather than the perfect unattainable standards usually written into the run of the mill hero book. The author is adept at comedy and a story that never fails to surprise me with twists n turns. The narrator is Jeff. K... Amazing at portraying multiple people in the story I almost think it can't be just him reading!! I love this author and story and will have to wait for the 1st book to be re-read or buy the book I can't get on with 1st book narrator, so I missed it out 😢😢

Great book, read very well!

I cannot apologise enough for putting a bad review about the narration of the fist book of this series.
Jeffrey Kafer narrates this very well written story brilliantly and I am very excited for the next book in the series to come out on audible.
Unfortunately Audible does not let one edit reviews, I hope no harm was caused.

Way Beyond Expectations

I'll try keep my review short.

First, have you read or listened to the first book, To Beat The Devil? No? Then what are you doing here? I implore you to do that first, then come back here!

This book, this series is one hell of a good time! Gibson is truely imaginative with a real talent for world building.

A note on the change in narrators: Shawn Purvis was missed. But I feel I need to stress this is solely due to his incredible performance with "To Beat The Devil," and not due to a lacking of Jeff Kafer's. It is a shame Purvis was not available, however Kafer is truely a professional that holds up his credibility.

The bottom line is that Gibson, and Kafer have kept me thoroughly entertained. I look forward to the next installment. If you are looking for an exciting fantasy series, this is it.

Flotsam Prison Blues

Happy to report that there is not a second book in the series letdown. I love how trouble follows Salem and Grimm. Ricky "the puppeteer" continues to move his plan forward. I like the change in narrator. I enjoyed his performance very much. I received this audio book for free from the narrator for my unbiased review.

Excellent sequel! Love this series!

Flotsam Prison Blues
The Technomancer Novels Series, Book 2
By: M. K. Gibson
Narrated by: Jeffrey Kafer
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
First, read book one! It is so look worth it! This book will make more sense and it might accidentally have a spoiler.( little ones but all spoilers count) This series I just love! It has awesome fantasy, great well developed characters, snark, lots of humor, creative plot, strangeness (yes, this is good), creatures of all kinds, and a kick ass team. Sure I could tell you about the golems, demons, and battles but it isn't the same as listen to it from the awesome narrator that performs this book. The narrator is super awesome! You would think there are giant flesh golems, demons, and other creatures on loan to the studio! Great job! Can't wait for the next book!

Awesome sequel

FLOTSAM PRISON BLUES is an incredible second installment of the Technomancer series. Salem has run out of money, which he desperately needs to pay bribes with in order to keep his community of Viking descendants from being taken down by the world's demonic overlords.

This book gets a lot more into Salem's backstory and the history of the world, which works well in raising the stakes despite the humor. We also get a number of interesting new female characters. If you like the Dresden Files or Shadowrun then you'll probably love Flotsam Prison Blues.

Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job as the narrator.

The Battle Continues…

This is not a standalone novel, start with Book 1, “To Beat The Devil” this is Book 2 in what is currently a four-book series. If you are into Demons taking over the world and the battle that ensues you will enjoy this series. The narration by Jeffrey Kafer is excellent. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sway upon them hooks.....10 out of 10

Gibson delivers another great book with a amazing story line. This book is my 2nd favorite in the series, with the newest one being my favorite.

But F.. poor Salem,
As the name suggests Salem goes to prison. A demon ran prison where the indoctrination will stick with you for a while. It really demonstrates the level of commitment he has to the people he cares about. The story introduce a new characters that I'm super fond of. There are a few parts that felt a little rushed, Or maybe I was just enjoying them too much and wanted it to be longer. Definitely a great continuation of the story.

Thank you Jeffrey Kafer...

After listening to the first book, I was immensely grateful to see that Jeffrey Kafer replaced the previous narrator. It is an immense improvement. This book is more gruesome than the first one, so that's something to be aware of. I'm looking forward to how this story will continue to unfold.

Totally different Narrator, still a fun story.

I really like Jeffery Kafer, but after having all the characters cemented in my from Shawn Purvis it was a little jarring to hear a new voice and it took a while to reacclimate to the new voices.

Salem still makes a lot of popculture references but not nearly as many as the first one and that's a welcome change.

If you liked to beat the devil it's absolutely worth continuing the book series.
