About this listen
Countdown to Doomsday
The year is 2026. The US military has a new weapon in its arsenal: an intelligent life-form so versatile that it can not only create a new generation of weapons but can become a weapon itself - entering a host’s body to manipulate (or kill) them. Admiral James Curtiss is tasked with deploying the new weapons, first in Cuba, then Venezuela, then China. But the news of the military’s breakthrough has gotten out and there are menacing forces trying to steal it.
What’s more, a single man has somehow harnessed the new power and has become something more than human - godlike and seemingly indestructible. He is known only as the Inventor, and he has a warning for humanity: abandon the new technology or the human race will face extinction. It’s a countdown to doomsday. But humanity’s final fate may be decided in the most unlikely of places: among the primitive tribes of the Kalahari Desert where a top secret military mission has just taken an unexpected turn.

Totally engaging, intellectually very interesting
This is a great book, but read 'The Last Sword Maker' first. The narrator is absolutely first class, what a great story teller.

Excellent sequel
Loved the first one, second did not disappoint and now itching for the third. May well be my new favourite techno-thriller writer. Just wish he had more already published that I could jump in to!

Awesome book
Definitely preferred this to the first book. The story in this book is actually unrivalled in that apart from the thrill, & action, it also depicts flawed characters, & highly skilled individuals trying to answer difficult questions. This is not one of those annoying “America always wins” kinda books; the story makes you connect with something deeper especially with the not-so primitive tribe. Narrator was superb
Fyi you can listen to this without listening to the first one & it should still make sense

Not the Frankie goes to Hollywood tribes
second book in the series and it loses nothing. Just as incredibly exhausting as book one.
This volume is fast paced and full of intricate plots and story lines.
