Summary

This lawyer is her client’s last hope and her town’s worst nightmare.

When a popular cheerleader winds up dead in a ditch, the case lands in Defense Attorney Cass Leary’s own backyard. Her niece’s boyfriend, Cole, is charged with first-degree murder, and the whole Leary family jumps to his defense. The evidence against him is as thin as the ice on Finn Lake. But an overzealous prosecutor and a rookie detective seem determined to see Cole go down for this no matter what.

Just as she’s about to crack the case, new evidence emerges that convinces Cass her client’s being framed. Cass’ dogged determination to defend him could upend the police department and ruin careers. But if she doesn’t uncover the truth, the real killer could strike again.

Can Cass bust open this conspiracy before another innocent girl dies?

First Degree is the seventh stand-alone book in a spine-tingling series of legal thrillers. If you like compelling courtroom dramas, strong female characters, and mind-bending plot twists, then you’ll love Robin James’ pause-resisting story.

Great plot twist!

I've enjoyed all 9 Robin James legal thrillers but FIRST DEGREE is special because of an unexpected plot twist. This novel is about a first degree murder trial in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The victim is a 19 year old woman. The defendant is her 20 year old ex-boyfriend. Another excellent Cass Leary legal thriller by Robin James.

More than disappointing

I’ve read every book in this series, I still have to hooks toreador after this one, I’m hoping it’s not as bogus as this one.. this book was horrible, I latterly skipped like 40 chapters to get passed the predictable trial!! I knew who did before the murder.. so disappointed!!!! I’m really dreading the next book (books)!! Just listen to the first five and the last 3!! Save yourself some excruciating time!

Another great one by Robin James

I did not see the ending coming and was completely blown away. Well done Robin James! I going to simply say if you haven’t gotten this series you should it is excellent and this book was out of the park. I enjoy books that have strong women characters and this series delivers. Publishing companies need to pay more attention to women authors like Robin James. They bring a lot to the table.

Terrible narrator

It is a shame that a bad narrator can destroy what might have been a good book. Don't waste a credit.

Unusual twists and turns

We really liked the story, but found the story telling annoying. After most sentences, the characters said , “I said or she said , he said”. This quickly became very annoying. Definitely was a unnecessary distraction from a great story.

I love these books

Great narrator who I could listen to constantly. Robin James is a master at legal thrillers and I can't wait for the next one.
