Summary

"Once I realized what my heart wanted, I knew I wanted to be with you."

If the last three years has taught Rebecca anything, it's that there are no decent men left, or at least in the city she lives in. All the men are either womanizing, arrogant, or the worst - downright lazy. Rebecca would rather keep her loneliness and rocky road ice cream nights than suffer another letdown.

Enter Jonathan, the boss. Between the constant flirting and the close encounters over the years Rebecca and Jonathan have more heat between them than a hot July afternoon. Fun and games in the office is a great way to pass time, but doesn't help those cold and lonely nights at the top of Rebecca's high rise in downtown Spokane.

When she meets Michael, a decent and charming man, Jonathan suddenly begins to show interest beyond the office, but is it because he has a real passion for her? Or is he just scared to lose the office flirting he had become accustomed with? Rebecca is more confused than ever and even more so after a date with Michael and the immediate connection she felt with him.

Torn between two men, Rebecca must determine who she wants to be with without losing them both in the process.

A story of love, a story of growth, and a story of faith.

A mixed bag

There were some good aspects to this story. Rebecca's struggle with accepting the message of the Christian faith was realistic. The narration was also well done, and the book wasn't boring.

However, I never warmed to Rebecca as a main character. She was obsessed with finding a man, and she dithered between her two choices. Her flirting with her boss and hoping he dumped his girlfriend for her was not a good look at all. I didn't understand what either man saw in her. Michael was marginally better, but he came across as immature in his faith and judgmental at the same time. Rebecca's journey to faith and the couple's reconciliation were rushed.

I understand that this was an earlier work by this author, and it showed. But I've heard good things about his later books, so I wouldn't mind giving him another chance, probably with a more recent novel. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Christian Contemporary Romance

I enjoyed the story, but found their emotional roller coaster a bit hard to comprehend. They were always jumping to wrong conclusions and never talking things out. They both seemed a bit manic depressive in their actions.
The narration was good, but sometimes I couldn't distinguish between Michael and Rebecca when they were having a discussion!

Refreshing, easy to listen.

Refreshing, easy to listen. I loved his character. Imagined it as a Pureflix movie. Gives a good picture of how salvation can be explained with love.
The salt of the world...yeah
(the narrator has to grow on me though!).

Michael and Rebecca

This was a clean sweet listen. It was real to life type situations and the Christian element sweetened more some how. The narrator did a good job.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sweet with a kick!

The male protagonist is a Christian, the woman he could love wasn’t. Throw in a narcissist boss who pulls some pretty awful stuff and you have a story that keeps you guessing along with some heart stopping moments.
I did like this book.
