What did you expect from an audiobook

To the last reviewer;

What did you expect from an audiobook?

The hanging gardens of Babylon perhaps?

Herds of wildebeest streaming majestically across the water?

It kinda works and kinda doesn't

it's audio directly taken from the TV show with additional narration to paint the picture.

One of the Greatest Comedies of all time

This works for audio very well, because the scripts are so strong. Maybe like me you remember the television anyway, so what I found was that as I listened the scenes played out in my mind triggered by the audio.

I laughed out loud many times.

All episodes are here, with introductions by John Cleese

Translates well to audio form

I loved this as a kid and still love it now I’m old and a bit wrinkly. What I dearly love is the little clips of narration by Andrew Sachs, which link the visual funnies to your aural experience. The added interview with John Cleese before every episodes serves to further enrich this collection. Loved it so much!

Your mileage may vary but I enjoyed it

This is the audio from the TV series, a lot of which is quite visual comedy. This version is strategically narrated by Manuel to help with visual elements and some scene changes. I thought that worked rather well. Each episode is introduced with some comments from John Cleese about how the show was written.

As a package, then, it's reasonably well put together and worth considering if you're a fan of the show.

If only it was without the ‘special introductions’ from John Cleese

One of the greatest comedies spoiled by dull dialogue before each episode begins. This would have been a smash hit if left alone. Cleese is such a bore now it puts me off listening to more than one or two because I know I’ll have to put up with 5 min of (mainly) pointless waffle before the good stuff. Others may like that but it’s really not for me and detracts from the pleasure of what should be a great listen.
Every-time I get to the end of an episode my enjoyment crashes as I know he coming back to break up the fun.
I’d love a way to turn the ‘special introductions’ off.

Great to hear these episodes again

Brings back some exaggerated scenes from John Cleese, I used to enjoy these episodes with my parents and helps me chill from todays problems. Very funny.

Great to listen to this classic tv series

Loved listening to this however why oh why did they feel the need to have an interview with John Cleese describing difficulties or successes of making before EVERY EPISODE is beyond me, then including over dubbed explanations by “Manuel” during the episode was awful.
