About this listen
For over a century, we've accepted the scientific consensus that cancer results from genetic disease due to chromosomal damage in cell nuclei. But what if scientists are chasing a flawed paradigm? What if cancer isn't a disease of damaged DNA but rather of defective metabolism as a result of mitochondrial dysfunction? What if that startling truth could revolutionize our understanding of other diseases, too - and show us a radical new path to optimal health?
In this groundbreaking guide, the first of its kind, New York Times best-selling author and leading natural-health practitioner Joseph Mercola explains how nearly all disease is caused by defective metabolic processes. Then he reveals what's causing your metabolism to go haywire: damage and dysfunction in the mitochondria, thousands of which are at work in nearly every cell in your body, generating energy you need to stay alive and well. When mitochondria are damaged in large numbers, it is impossible to stay healthy.
Dr. Mercola shows that you can take control of your health simply by giving your body the proper fuel - and it's not what you've been led to believe. A ketogenic diet, very low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats, is the way to optimize the biochemical pathways that suppress disease and support healing. And the benefits can be astonishing - not only in treating or preventing serious illness but in boosting your brainpower, increasing your energy, helping you lose weight and keep it off, and much more.
As you listen to this audiobook, you'll learn in clear, rational terms how your body works at a molecular level. You'll finally understand the type of fuel it's designed to burn in the most efficient way possible. You'll find detailed guidelines for starting a ketogenic eating plan. And you won't have to wait decades for metabolic mitochondrial therapy to make its way into the mainstream. You can build a healthier body and brain starting right now.

Amazing book, packed with helpful information- 5*
One of the most comprehensive books I have read on nutritional ketosis. Dr. Mercola has a knack for presenting the science/theory underlying this dietary approach in an easy to understand/palatable way. His passion for this subject enthuses the reader thoughout. Back to the beginning for me, this time armed with a notebook and pen. Thanks Dr. M

Sometimes there are books that can change your life.
This book can change your life style. It is not about a diet but about changing your eating style.
I started this life style four weeks ago after doing fasting diets. A lot of people are warning me to go on with this life style, but I feel good. Don't have the need for sugar and cookies anymore. It works.
I thing about the book, it is a lot of information and a lot about stuff I have never heart of. Also about the food supplements. And as a (not native English) listener I do not even know how to spell it. So to search for it on the internet, made it difficult sometimes. This is the reason why I did not give it a full five star ranking.

Illuminating but not for me
I like to take an approach to my diet which follows what I feel like my body needs to eat. I crave different things on different days and I just follow that instinct.
What this book did help me appreciate was that avocados and eggs are super foods, along with coconut oil and flax seed. It also helped me realise that ALL carbs are converted into sugar by my body and that cancer cells LOVE sugar and carbs.
So I'll keep that in mind if I ever get cancer.
I gave up wheat months ago before this book and already found myself eating much more meat and fatty foods as a result because otherwise I get really hungry. So I already do a lot of what this book suggests. But as for rigorously following this diet, nah, definitely not for me. I think we need a balance of proteins, carbs, fats, fruit and veg etc. Sometimes I simply crave fruit or veg or carbs. This diet seems too extreme and forced to me and my body doesn't cope well with it
Plus I do get hungry a lot when I only eat fats.

In depth and scientific but could be revolutionary
This book is long and complex but very worth ploughing through if you want to understand the science behind how your metabolic system works. More catered for those in US where doctors work with patients and you can go and ask for blood tests.
I found it very interesting and enlightening. This could change society if Governments and health care providers took note.

Insightful, useful, and quite complex in parts
As above really. I learned quite a bit from Dr. Mercola via this book! I'd need to listen to it again to get some more of what I couldn't take in first time around.

Science heavy
I found the book OK. I've read better books. Too science heavy for me. Average and better books out there I think on the subject of LCHF
