Summary

US Marshal Frank Castello is on medical leave and feeling restless. While at his friends' wedding, he finds himself attracted to Sydney Peele. Problem is, the cute, sassy blonde is the photographer for the wedding. Frank hates photographers. They're a hazard to his profession, especially when he's on witness protection duty.

Sydney Peele is intrigued by the grumpy Marshal at her friend's wedding, even when the big, sexy man begrudgingly offers to take her home afterwards. Her pleasure is short lived when her home and life is literally going up in flames. Her brother had been staying at her home, and there is no sign of him anywhere. When Sydney goes into a state of frozen shock, finely honed instinct has Castello rushing her from the scene to safety at his home.

A visit to the fire scene the next day confirms his suspicions, when the firemen on the site confirm it a case of arson. As Frank and Sydney search for answers about who might've started the blaze, questions arise about her brother, also a photographer. Was he responsible for the fire? Or has he exposed his sister to something far more sinister?

3 1/2 star story. Just ok narration..

So, this was pretty good but it was way too long. I did find myself skimming, trying to get to something interesting or exciting. This book didn’t really have to be 424 pages. I did like Sydney and Frank, and they did add a lot to the story but still…

I also liked seeing the Edgars brothers and their friends: Matt, Lucas, Dave, Jake and Doyle. They were fantastic characters, as was the adorable Jontae, Sydney’s BFF.

It was a good story about murder, dirty politicians, hired hitmen, sex and love. Everything you could ask for in a book, but not so much useless information was needed.

There was definitely sex in this book, very explicit sex but not erotic sex. And the F-bomb was used 10 times.

As to the narrator: Hmmm.. I guess he was ok. I mean, really, when you’re sitting in a restaurant talking about who killed a cop and what’s going to be done to take down the killer you shouldn’t be yelling about it, and Paul Boehmer did just that. His women’s voices were just ok, too. I wasn’t impressed with his narration but if I wanted to listen to a book and he was the narrator I would listen to him.

Great set of stories

I read all five of the Edgars Family Novel series. I really enjoyed them. Each had a plot that kept you interested throughout the book. I also liked that the 'girl main characters" in the books were smart not silly and air headed. The 'guy' characters were also smart and not silly, real man. A really good listen!!!! Highly recommend.

Busted!

Frank Costello, the strong man of few words tough-as-nails US Marshals, has been bested buy a 5-foot blond. He was minding his business and Luke and Abigail's wedding when this little force of nature blue into his life and broke down all his walls of resistance. Now if he can keep her alive long enough he'll make her his

Sydney Peele's good for nothing brother Ethan has gotten her into tight spots before but this is ridiculous. An international hit man is trying to kill her, she has lost everything she treasures, and now a big burly US Marshals has taken over her life. But maybe the last one is a good thing if he can and the Edgars family can keep her alive.

Brother from another mother- Frank’s turn

Whereas you can listen to books 1, 2, and 3 in any order, this book benefits from hearing books 1-4 as the Edgar family pairs from those books help take down the bad guys here.

All of the books feature lawmen of various persuasions, angst filled backstories, and crime thrillers where our couples will find love amidst peril. Each book has occasional F bombs, 1-2 sex scenes (2 in this book), and sometimes “you Jane, me Tarzan” cringeworthy dialogue. Also, the narrator’s robotic pacing and middle-aged sounding voice takes getting used to. (Consider 1.3 x) But, especially for free in Audible Plus, these are great B movie romance thrillers for those who like sexy lawmen protecting smart, capable women.

This last book pairs controlled, clean freak Frank with photographer Sydney. While not born an Edgar, Frank has been adopted into the family. Even though he’s stuffy, I think I enjoyed his story because of the greater interplay with the whole Edgar clan. This book has a somewhat less angsty past for Sydney, which I was thankful for. Here, because Frank is older and is supposed to have a deep, gravelly voice, the narrator was a better fit than for some of the younger guys. This final book was a solid listen.

Better

This was better than the one before. This time there was a corrupt congressman & his hit man. I don't think Ms. Ferrell likes politicians very much.

Actions speak louder...

With the wedding of Luke and Abby all the Edgars have their HEA except one.

Honorary family member US Marshal Frank Castello is recovering after being shot helping Luke when he meets Abby's friend photographer Sydney Peele.

Frank hates photographers with a passion but something about the cute, sassy blonde calls to him.

When her brother puts her in danger Frank does what he does best. He let's his actions speak for him.

With a little help from his family he will risk anything to keep Sydney safe from the conspiracy she has been pulled into. His job and his life but is he willing to risk his heart? Well you'll have to read Suzanne's final Edgars story to find out. Paul as always does a great job narrating my 'friends'.

I hope that Suzanne will continue the Edgars Family story, if only as secondary characters in other peoples stories.

The best

Frank and Sydney are an unlikely, charming and steamy pair. The whole family makes an appearance to help their honorary member help the petite photographer after her awful brother gets her home blown up.
Intrigue and assassins and crooked politicians make up a suspenseful story and setting and lots of twists. I think this may be the beat in the series. Great buy

🌻A bit predictable, but enjoyable!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻

I put this book off for awhile, after listening to the others, from the series. I always thought Frank was alright but, he wasn’t my favorite character. This book does allow the reader/listener to understand Frank’s personality better and this fact did help endear Frank to me.

I found the story a bit predictable but it was still an entertaining listen. I wish I had listened to it sooner.
