About this listen
The Italian evening class at Mountainview School is like hundreds of others starting up all over the city. But this class has its own special quality - as the focus for the varied hopes and dreams of teacher and pupils alike.
Aidan Dunne needs his new evening class project to succeed almost as much as his pupils do. They too are looking for something more: Bill to find a way to keep spendthrift Lizzie at his side and Fran to make sure that young Kathy finds her way out from behind the kitchen sink.
The key to their success lies with the Signora. Her passion has drawn her from Ireland to Italy and back home again with a burning desire to share her love of all things Italian - and a secret hidden in her heart ....

When Signora meets Aidan and they make a connection - it's so subtle and so well done.

A gem!
Read this Maeve Binchy book many years and thoroughly enjoyed it. So to come back to again via audible was a wonderful treat for my everyday commute. Maeve's daughter narrates and it is first class, her characterisation is just brilliant. The stories of the various characters who come together for an Italian evening class become part of you and you live there ups and downs with them. A lovely book to relax to.

Entertaining Read
This was a lovely book with many characters. It was well narrated with the male and female Irish voices
My only problem with it was that I got a bit confused by so many characters but I remembered the key ones.

Rich cast of characters
If you could sum up Evening Class in three words, what would they be?
Lives weaving together
Who was your favorite character and why?
Difficult to say, but Signora was captivating with her complex facets.
Have you listened to any of Kate Binchy’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Not applicable
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No strong emotional responses - curiosity mainly, to see how each of the characters would end up.
Any additional comments?
I sometimes felt frustrated at losing the thread of one character story to move onto another character. It was almost like a series of short stories.
