About this listen
Macy never expected to find the love of her life in high school—at an 1800s pioneer reenactment camp, no less—but that's precisely where she met Nate. She was private school kid reluctantly attending camp for the first time with her single dad. Nate was from a large, homeschooling family that enjoyed going every year. Their unlikely friendship soon developed into a romantic relationship that had them dreaming of a future together—until Macy unexpectedly called things off in college.
Now twenty-three, Macy is a successful florist with no plans of settling down. When her best friend's wedding festivities mean Nate's return, she's forced to face her past and the feelings she may still have for him. Macy will have to decide if she's willing to risk opening her heart again, or if she will stay on the path she's already chosen, where things feel safer.
If you enjoy the wedding backdrop of Forget Me Not by Julie Soto but prefer the funny and wholesome writing style of Sarah Adams, you’ll love Even When It Wasn’t You. It’s humor, raw emotion, and swoon-worthy moments will keep you listening long into the night!

Sweet romance.
A sweet romance with an entertaining plot, a lot of twists, and the perfect book boyfriend (Nate). I loved Shannon Nicole Locke’s narration, she vividly portrayed the emotions of the characters.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the narrator. All of the above opinions are my own.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Heartfelt & Moving!
I enjoyed this book immensely, a wonderful second chance romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to like and care about too. Macy’s mom left when she was young, and her reasons for leaving scarred her. Her single dad did the best he could for her, and her life was not lacking. Her dad took her on vacations and that is how she met the love of her life, Nate, and she also became good friends with his younger sister, Evie. The story alternates timelines starting with the present, and Evie is getting married and Macy is her maid of honor, and it is a guarantee she will see Nate again, and is dreading it. We then alternate from past, when Nate and Macy first meet, back to the present, then going back and forth to give you glimpses into their life, watching their relationship grow and morph into more and to what led them to where they are in the present, which was not together. The timeline switches are seamless and well done, making it easy to follow along. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. I loved the chemistry between the two characters and watching them grow into their own. It broke my heart that they were not together, especially for the reason. Macy was a picture of strength to do what she did and Nate was admirable in accepting her the way she was. This multilayered story has plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some charming moments, heartfelt emotions, and a sweet romance. Kayla Tirrell, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Shannon Nicole Locke did a fabulous job bringing the characters and story to life. She covered the roles for all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Her portrayal of the characters was spot on and was believable in every role, including both lead characters, Macy and Nate, showcasing all sides of their personality. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. Ms. Locke is an entertaining storyteller and her performance elevated the story to another level. Thank you for this wonderful listen.

Amazing narration from Shannon Nicole Locke, who bring the characters, angst, little bit of heat, and wonderful plot to your ears. Perfect.
This is a wonderful clean romance. Macy and Nate met at a pioneer camp made it so fun and unique. Their unlikely friendship soon developed into a romantic relationship that had them dreaming of a future together. That is Macy ends it.
Macy is now a successful florist . At her best friend's wedding Macy has to face her past Nate and the feelings she may still have for him.
Can these two put the past behind them and let their hearts fly. This book will make you laugh, and cry.
