Summary

Mary Stokes was walking through Dead Man's Copse one evening when she saw, in the beam of a torch, the corpse of a young woman dressed in a black coat, black gloves, no hat and an eternity ring set with diamonds in her ear. But when she and Detective Sergeant Frank Abbott went back to the wood the body had vanished. This would have been mystery enough for Miss Silver to solve if a woman had not also reported that her lodger had gone out on Friday dressed in a black coat, black beret, black shoes and large hoop earrings 'set all round with little diamonds like those eternity rings.' She never came back...

Give Patricia Wentworth a try today!

What did you like most about Eternity Ring?

I love this good old fashioned stories, I liked the feisty character of Cecily and am find of recurring character Frank Abbott.

What did you like best about this story?

That I guessed who did it but it was still worth listening to the whole story unfold.

Have you listened to any of Diana Bishop’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All of her Miss Silver stories - I wish I could rewind and discover them fresh all over again, I love them. This one is a 4 out of 5, but only because the character of Miss Silver herself does not get much of a look in in Eternity Ring.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A detective worthy of Sherlock Holmes in 'Victorian Governess' clothing with a good dose of common sense, human kindness and a clean handkerchief ready at all times.

First Patricia wentworth and I loved it

I’m a lover of Christie and having exhausted her stories I was looking for a new fix and this didn’t disappoint. I’m already onto the next one

Only thing it’s missing is a particularly quirky detective but it’s still great

Enjoyed the Book

Another good story from Patricia Wentworth and excellent narration from Diana Bishop who I imagine as Miss Silver. I’m enjoying the series of books. Crying out to be made as a film.

Entertaining story

I enjoyed this as a period piece of crime writing. Miss Silver does have an irritating habit of coughing before speaking, I have no idea why the author thought this was a good thing to add to her character! But the story was interesting and the narrator performs it well.

Such a great listenn

Although I've been reading Patricia Wentworth for years, this is only my second foray into Miss Silver. I am now hooked, they are superbly written and have great characters. Everyone should read these books. Brilliantly performed.
