South African-born Elon Musk is the renowned entrepreneur and innovator behind PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla and SolarCity. Musk wants to save our planet; he wants to send citizens into space, to form a colony on Mars; he wants to make money while doing these things; and he wants us all to know about it.
He is the real-life inspiration for the Iron Man series of films starring Robert Downey, Jr. The personal tale of Musk's life comes with all the trappings one associates with a great, drama-filled story. He was a freakishly bright kid who was bullied brutally at school and abused by his father. In the midst of these rough conditions and the violence of apartheid South Africa, Musk still thrived academically and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he paid his own way through school by turning his house into a club and throwing massive parties.
He started a pair of huge dot-com successes, including PayPal, which eBay acquired for $1.5 billion in 2002. Musk was forced out as CEO and so began his lost years, in which he decided to go it alone and baffled friends by investing his fortune in rockets and electric cars. Meanwhile Musk's marriage disintegrated as his technological obsessions took over his life....

Inspirational story
Being an engineer myself I found learning about Musk's approach and achievements fascinating and inspiring. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in technology or business.

intense insight
What an intense look at high flying ceo's and what it takes to stay there. I enjoyed and found intrest in every second of this book!

Engrossed till the very end!
Loved every minute of this book. Great production by Fred Sanders, and Asked Vance has done a brilliant job in expressing Musk's personality, drive and psyche. Amazing book!

Great book but seems a bit too complimentary
I enjoyed the book very much and I admit I'm a personal fan of Musks. It covers his life and successes in an accessible and narrative way. It was however a bit too complimentary to be truly objective. That didn't bother me but may be frustrating for others.

Left every cell in body inspired
From the very start the author seemed nothing but bias toward Musk and you can still finish the book with a negative picture of the man if you choose to ignore the bigger picture. Musk has impossible goals and needs to equip himself with the most outrageous strategies to succeed. He does and he delivers. He is the closest to a superhero that this world has ever seen.

narrators accents were amusing! enjoyed the background on a big player across several industries. Would recommend. Have booked a tesla test drive next week! intrigued....

brilliant and inspiring
amazing listen! you won't regret it. from his childhood up until very recently a story to show what one can accomplish with hard work and a pioneering spirit. Leveraging technological advances and going down to the physics of things to rethink how we function on planet earth. this is much better than Exponential Organisations. Elon Musk will be remembered as a great man in years to come.
