About this listen

In 1993, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old was never found. Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

Taking the confession of the man he has sought and hated for 13 years is bad enough. Discovering that he missed a clue back in 1993 that could have stopped nine other murders may just be the straw that breaks Harry Bosch.

Critic reviews

Superior crime fiction, as suspenseful as it is psychologically acute." ( Booklist)
"Smooth prose and plausible characters, even the secondary figures, elevate this several notches above the standard cop vs. serial-killer thriller." ( Publishers Weekly)

Well written with a good story, but super cheesy

I have never read any other Micheal Connelly Books but i like a good detective story. This one starts off well and becomes addictive quickly, the story is well written, flows smoothly and has a good twist in the end. The only point that really lets it down is the large amount of cliches you would find in a Gene Hackman film.

Bosch is an ex 'nam' solider whose mother was murdered thus he becomes a detective (and solves his own mothers case!), there are lots of cringe-worthy 'she's my partner god-dammit' scenes and 'the badge is what i live for' moments. If you can put up with this then it is a good book though these parts literally made me laugh out loud. One other thing is that the reader adopts a really odd voice for Bosch's friend Rachel, this was testing my patience towards the end. None of this made me stop listening however, so it really isn't so bad. I'd recommend it.

Excellent

Michael Connelly is a terrific writer. His books are always readable, meticulously plotted, with well drawn and believable characters - particularly the main man, Harry Bosch - and real page turners. Echo Park is right up with the best of his work in all these respects. The narration is excellent too adding greatly to the pleasure of the book. Strongly recommended.

Echo Park

Michael Connelly's best to date - he just gets better with every book. Full of twists & suspense from the first 'page' until the 'last'. I listened to it in one go - couldn't 'put it down'. Brilliant. And the reading is unbelievable.

Excellent thriller

This is an excellent thriller, well written and well read. The plot had enough twists to keep my interest to the end. I have listened to several Michael Connelly novels and I have enjoyed them all. They have pace, believable characters and good plots. If you like thrillers that have good plots and well drawn characters then you should enjoy this.
