Fantastic Production of a disappointing story
I've always felt that Messiah is a bit of a let down in the Dune series. It seems to try to be the last chapter of Dune, while setting the scene for Children of Dune. However this means that by itself, it is not a very good story. It kind of meanders around the various characters from Dune filling up some back stories and looking into their new motives and goals. However after coming straight off of Dune, it seems to take away a lot of the awe from the story and I can't help but feel it somehow cheapens the first book. Anyway, on to Children of Dune!
The production, like Dune, is fantastic. Clear, well read dialogue with a healthy balance of actors, voices and narration. If only all audio books were this good.

Good but dense
With all the made up names and words I'd have appreciated a bit slower pace but it's good nonetheless.

Maybe need to read again

Another great read
I have all the books in this series and have had them for many years, if your in to sci-fi then you can't go wrong.
I must have read this book 10 or more times over the years and never get board of it.

Dune Messiah
Second book in the series, carries on the story of Paul. Great performances by all the readers. Found it difficult to stop listening as the storytelling was very gripping. Shorter story than the first book. Now to get the next in the series.

great story
the story is fantastic but the change of narrator is confusing at times. this would have been much better if it followed the production of the first book, one narrator and the book excerpts separately.
cannot fault the story itself though.

strange choice of voicover organisation.
the story is incredible. narrators change pretty randomly throughout chapters, i didn't see the point

OK not that good though
The first book is brilliant, this one not so much.
The story is fine but when compared to the first book it just doesn't feel nearly as good.
I would go into more detail but I would spoil the book annoyingly.

A Slow but Steady Sequel
A Slow but Steady Sequel which in it's wake leads to much bigger and more exciting things. A different pace to 'Dune', this talks alot of politics and subtfuge but doesn't really promote the action it's predessor had.
Great character development and as I say sets the scene very well for future titles leading us into a much bigger arc.
The Main Narrator was good but limits himself to 3 or 4 voices. Which is all well and good but becomes a bit confusing when two females are interacting. He did the last book 'Dune' as well so I was used to it by now. At first I had to concentrate to identify who he was using in dialgoue if Frank didn't specify.
