Summary

It would make a great bard’s song: The orphan son of a mage, a battlefield scavenger saves a knight’s life, is elevated to be his squire, and becomes a dragon’s envoy. But this is no bard’s song.

All of this was because of the dragon stone necklace I scavenged from that dead mage. I knew it was magic when I saw it. Well, it was and it wasn’t. Dragon stone, they call it, but what it actually is, is a dragon’s egg. When I touched it, I felt the need to put it around my neck for safekeeping. When I did, the necklace embedded itself inside my skin, making me the new dragon’s envoy. It has since been my duty to protect the egg until she’s ready to hatch. How do I know the egg is a she? Easy, she talks to me and is helping me to bring out my natural magic talents.

Sometimes I’d rather it was a bard’s song, as it can be tiring. Although I must admit, having a dragon inside you comes in handy when people are trying to kill you.

The writing is horrible.

Saver the credit and look elsewhere for a story with some depth to it, you won't find it here

I love these kinds of stories.

Hey it's the same thing but jeez I like it.I think it's the book that ends up in every story. This must be the one where it is created. Back to the point these books kind of all live in the same light but entertaining none the less.

What? Another cookiecutter mage book?

It's a good thing that I Love cookies!
James Haddock and friends have done it again with a great mage book with only one problem, it ends too soon. It does lend itself to a series though.
Narrator Daniel Wisniewski hits another homerun with his narration, and the addition of Elizabeth Plant's voice for the lady parts is superb.
Go get your own copy, then you too will be a James Haddock fan And a lover of cookies

A little disappointed

I love the author. I love the narration. I struggled some with this book do to the 2nd narrator. It just didn't fit. The conversations between the 2 were off. All female characters sounded exactly the same. When a mother and daughter were talking, there was no difference in the voices. Please just stick with Daniel in the future.

Good stuff but….

Another excellent story from this author, but I have found his stories to be somewhat repetitive in certain elements. I really really enjoyed the story. Unfortunately, many of his stories have similar elements to them that make them feel the same, just retelling them in a different way.

Battle ground scavenger to Dragon mage. Great audio book!

The book follows the life of a young battle ground scavenger to becoming a dragon mage with a dragon spirit teacher. I always enjoy Haddock’s stories with loot, cool magic, and care of the community. The performance from Daniel and Elizabeth were great as usual. I love the different accents, characters, etc that the bring to life, I really get pulled into the story. Here is hoping there really will be a part .
