Kevin Fulton was one of the British Army's most successful intelligence agents. Having been recruited to infiltrate the Provisional IRA at the height of the Troubles, he rose its ranks to an unprecedented level. Rare l write a review, this is a fantastic insight into a war That was dictated as much by terrorist as it was staged by security forces. Another poor individual that was manipulated by his intelligence handlers! An epic account of an informer

You can tell this has been written by a ghost writer, it’s very well written. The book is very engaging and gives an insight into the IRA. Not Sure I don’t understand the title Double Agent as he wasn’t one, he might have been an agent but a double?
I am shocked by his final chapters when he states the the British Security Services tried to get him killed and left him on his own. This is different from what I have read about others who were taken out when
Compromised. It doesn’t matter if true or not the book is engaging and the person performing does it well

Those involved in the Intelligence war will be able to spot the inconsistencies in this book. There are some glaring errors and omissions in the accounts and nothing that really isn’t in the public domain. Kevin, real name Peter Keeley, was dismissed as a ‘Walter mitty’ type character by the Security Services who provided low level intelligence. They would have neither confirmed nor denied if he had been a registered source of covert intelligence.

If he had been involved within the IRA at the level he claims, then him still being alive today and being afforded the opportunity to write this book is questionable. Martin McGartland’s ‘50 Dead Men Walking’ is indeed a factual account of a Double Agent.

None the less, an interesting story and whether read as fiction or non fiction is your call.

A Gripping listen, interesting and fascinating to hear how the system such as the double Agents worked throughout the trouble in Northern Ireland.

I'm surprised at AJH review 12-Apr, attempting to pour doubt over the truth of this. This was a very dirty battle in a nasty war and reality is, the state is very capable of using people in this way and then utterly pulling the rug. Chapter 11 in my opinion, leaves the listener in little doubt about the validity of the content, including a rational explanation from 'Fulton' himself on why he is still around. The IRA, for now, will be very happy for him to openly discredit the security forces and then, like the security forces themselves, when they feel he has served his purpose..........

I enjoyed the account in this book but feel frustrated with the amount the was left out due to legal reasons. Some of the IRA members, who's names have been omitted from this book are well known, such as Stakeknife.

This audible is an excellent listen. The detail is interesting. The confusion lies the truth. In reality everyone was against everyone.. I visited the areas to see for myself. How can they move on when the memories are everywhere?

A brilliant listen.... had me gripped from start to finish.

Rgds the narrator.... I'm Northern Irish and I'm pretty sure the narrator is also Northern Irish. His accent is either "Posh" NI or he has lived in (or is living in) England and thus his accent will be softer. Remember..... not everyone in NI speaks in a thick Belfast brogue!!
