Summary
Insightful, enlightening and thought-provoking, leading Premier League lawyer Daniel Geey lifts the lid on the inner workings of modern football.
Whether it is a manager being sacked, the signing of a new star player, television rights negotiations, player misconduct or multi-million-pound club takeovers, lawyers remain at the heart of all football business dealings. Written by leading Premier League lawyer Daniel Geey, who has dealt with all these incidents first hand, this highly accessible book explores the issues - from pitch to boardroom - that shape the modern game and how these impact leagues, clubs, players and fans.
Featuring insider anecdotes and expert contributions, Done Deal provides football fans with a fresh and authoritative perspective on all off-field football matters.

Very repetitive, save your money
Managed about 2/3 of the book before I had to stop.
There is some interesting parts but it seems that some of the points are repeated every chapter.
Seriously lost count of how many times you are told that a player setting up a Ltd company for their image rights, offers them the opportunity to pay only 19% tax instead of 45% on their base salary. Was handy to know the first time, not every 10 mins.
Might finish it if I ever need some tax advice.

No Real Insights
Unfortunately, this is a repetitive book with no real insights fans of the game won't already have at least a vague understanding of (i.e. two teams seek to agree a fee before transfering a player). It seems that the short chapters would make this work better as a referal handbook than anything else.

very good detail
I learnt alot listening too this. the detail level was amazing. a great insight into the business of football. the only downside for me was that it takes alot of concentration to listen to it, due to the fact it's all about figures and details

The narrator was not good. He speaked in one tone and it felt robot-like and not human

Loved it, very interestingly different and looking at a subject that I find particularly fascinating, in a totally new way..

Informative but no spin
Really good narration but the book itself is mainly facts about the football industry - it's very procedural and thus doesn't really offer an opinion on the elements it uncovers eg why a fit and proper person's test is inadequate, what the solution to overpaid agents could be, or even any real juicy anecdotes about players. Overall quite disappointing.

Some Fascinating Insights, But No Real Juicy Bits
A really interesting look at this side of football, especially (for me) the actual breakdown of how contracts are arrived at and paid out.
I was hoping for a lot more examples of bizarre demands that have been made / negotiation spats etc which sadly weren't included but overall it was still an enjoyable listen and am happy to recommend it to others.
