About this listen

The Dead are not alone. There is something in the mist and it talks to them.

In a remote clinic in 18th-century Italy, a lonely girl writes to her mother. She tells of pale English aristocrats and mysterious Russian nobles. She tells of intrigues and secrets, and strange faceless figures that rise from the sea. And she tells about the enigmatic Mrs Pond, who arrives with her husband and her physician. What she doesn’t tell her mother is the truth that everyone knows and no one says: that the only people who come here do so to die.

A good story.

The performance itself was very well done. Claire Corbett does a very good job at most of the people. I still don’t think she’s quite got the Doctors voice correct and I’m still undecided about the Scottish accent of Amy. But overall brilliant.

The story is really interesting, very very good but I didn’t like the writing style. It’s probably better as a written book rather than audiobook as it jumps from person to person and every time it started a new chapter it would be titled ‘a letter written by Maria’ et cetera and this through me out of the story.

SPOILERS:

The tardis is rubbernecking. Something interesting is going on and he wants to know what. The doctor Rory and Amy crash land on Earth in France just before the start of the revolution. They found on the beach and have lost their memories.

Over the course of the book they regain their memories and they find that there is an alien presence which they must defeat. It’s all tied in to the hotel where they get taken to. The doctor is treating his patients with clean, fresh sea air and fresh linens. He is his success rate is quite high considering they have consumption - now known as tuberculosis - At this time most people died once they caught it.

But all the alien is really helping the patients out of kindness or is there an ulterior motive?

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
