A pretty engaging listen

The last section on interview tips seemed out of place. However, overall this book had merit.

Ruined by the distracting narration

The ideas in this book are very useful to creating my forthcoming dissertation. Unfortunately the narrator is completely unsuitable for this British-centric book. He has a great voice and would be perfect for other publications I have purchased but really ruined the experience. The narrator's strong Southern drawl was extremely distracting and out of place when referring to The British Library, researching the former coal mining areas of South Wales and other UK terminology. A real shame as the content itself is a brilliant introduction to the subject and makes the task much less intimidating.

Excellent Overview, a few quirks

This provides a good overview of the dissertation process with examples, suggested headings and key points to address.
I’ve finished the first draft of my MSc project but still found new points in this and used them in my dissertation, so Jones’ work will be of use at any stage in the process.
A few issues, however. The accent was unexpected, using a southern US narrator on a book produced primarily for the UK market. It’s not off putting as I listen to a lot of southerner-narrated books but may be to some people.

There are blips in the audio where the ends of sentences are cut off, and these are quite frequent.

As others have noted, there’s a random chapter at the end that discusses tips for job interviews, with no justification for why that’s there or why it’s relevant to the work.

Overall, I’d say it’s a useful listen to outline your project and then use as a reference guide to go back to for recollection.

short but helpful

Gives concise and clear tips for dissertation writing. Will come in handy throughout the research process as it can remind us about "rookie errors"
