Die lebenslustige Skye muss mit ihrer sechsjährigen Tochter fliehen: vor einem gewalttätigen Ehemann und der Polizei, die sie wegen Kidnappings sucht. Da kommt das abgeschiedene Cottage einer Bekannten in den schottischen Highlands gerade recht.
Kaum ist Skye angekommen, stolpert sie über eine Leiche. Was tun? Die Polizei rufen? Kann sie nicht. Das Cottage wieder verlassen, ebenso wenig. Draußen braut sich ein infernalischer Schneesturm zusammen.
Dann tauchen aus dem Nichts fünf Fremde auf, von denen jeder ein Geheimnis hütet. Zu siebt auf engstem Raum wird Skye immer klarer, dass dieses Aufeinandertreffen nicht so zufällig war, wie man sie gerne glauben lassen wollte.
