Summary
Der Roman "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge", Rilkes einziges langes Prosawerk, handelt von einem jungen Dänen, der Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in Paris lebt und die dortigen Verhältnisse schildert. Er besteht aus längeren und kürzeren Betrachtungen, in denen sich die Beschreibungen dessen, was der Erzähler sieht und was er darüber denkt, vereinen. Verwoben sind diese Prosastücke mit Kindheitserinnerungen, die viele von Rilkes frühesten Erlebnissen preisgeben, wie zum Beispiel seine Zeit an der Militärschule.
