About this listen

Holden and Peyton don't expect much from senior year. He probably won't manage to date any guys. She'll still pine over Juliette, the beautiful and unattainable cheerleader. But when they step between class bullies and Oliver, a super-hot transfer student, their year starts to go off the rails.

As a star football player, Oliver hadn't anticipated trouble. Turns out Pinedale High not only comes with bullies but with new friends, plus the ghost of a Civil War soldier and a shy naked guy in the library. Between the living and the dead, senior year is about to get interesting.

A novel concept

This was a very different kind of story, well, it would be considering it included a storyline about ghosts. I enjoyed this YA LGBT romance, I wasn't sure how the ghost storyline was going to play out but I thought it was done really well and seemed perfectly feasible the way it was done. The 6 main characters were all very different and all very likeable. There were a few times I felt I was getting a lecture about past and present issues, but that was ok, I agree with all that they talked about. I liked the inclusiveness that the author included in her characters. The narrator did a good job of bringing a voice to each of the characters and I liked that it was told from all points of view.

Brilliant book!!

I had so so so much fun listening this book! I was hooked from chapter one and I finished it in one sitting. It was so unique. I loved it that we got pov chapters from all six main characters. It helped me connect with all of them and I absolutely adored them. The paranormal aspect of the plot was very intriguing and I loved how everything was resolved. The ending was so beautiful and satisfying, it warmed my heart. I loved every single minute, I didn't want the book to end. The narrator did an absolutely amazing job bringing the story and the characters to life. Very distinct voices for each character and the audio quality was great. I highly recommend it.

Fun and intriguing story

Although this story started a little slow for me (not really into teenage crushes and pining), it picked up quickly, especially with the introduction of the paranormal aspect. It's a story of growing up, being true to yourself, and helping others. There are also very real issues addressed like bullying, harassment, bigotry, homophobia, and discrimination. The serious topics share equal billing with humor, camaraderie, and friendship. The ghosts and their situation were very intriguing, and I wanted to know more about them, and the mysteriously, seemingly knowledgeable, janitor. This book is part of a multi-author series, so I don't know if my questions will be answered in future books. Regardless, this book is enjoyable as a standalone read/listen..

I always enjoy Michael Ferraiuolo's narration. His inflection and voice always suit the the characters and situations. He did a great job here.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

A ghost romance

This was a fun book to listen to. It’s based on a high school with cute characters, a nerd falls for the jock, he has a best friend in love with the head cheerleader, and they find themselves helping a couple of ghosts find their way. It’s paranormal at its best.

Impressive & Enchanting! Great Story & Narration🎧

Gabbi Grey never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful writing style and it is great to see another side of her brilliant mind with this fascinating novel, a young adult paranormal romance, a unique ghost story that is original. The story starts with two characters, Holden and Peyton, two friends who are high school seniors, and the challenges they face and the friends they make, including their romantic interests and a friendly ghost or two. Gabbi Grey captured the essence of being a young adult in high school, and she incorporated the ghosts into the story naturally and made it seem real. Next up is Oliver, the new kid in town, who not only caught Holden’s attention, but the attention of the school bullies. But the feisty Peyton steps in to put a stop to their bullying, with Holden at her side. Peyton has a thing for Juliette, and it was nice to see those two come together. Last but not least are the two ghosts, and I loved how they appeared and came into the story and it was great to learn more about them, and there was a nice twist for one of them too. This wonderfully written and plotted multi-layered story is captivating from start to end and has the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and sweet romance. Gabbi Grey, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying. He covered the roles of all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Ferraiuolo is an incredible voice artist and his talent and versatility truly shined in this book while voicing both the male and female characters, young and old. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. Ferraiuolo is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates this already fabulous story to another level.
