About this listen

It is now common knowledge that we know there is an obesity epidemic. We have about 40% of the adults in the world who are eating the modern Western diet diagnosed with obesity. As a result, we have more prediabetes and more type 2 diabetes with corresponding complications from this condition. There are numerous medications used to try to lower your blood sugar. but these are not curing anything and the condition slowly progresses.

Type 2 diabetes is preceded by prediabetes, at which type we still have a chance to prevent progression. Prediabetes is preceded by obesity, which is usually present for several years before.

Unfortunately, we now have about a third of the kids with some level of obesity. Many of these go on to be obese adults, adults with prediabetes, and finally adults with Type 2 diabetes.

I used to say I will start at the beginning, but the beginning is when you were a fetus. Epigenetics and Pregnancy: fat newborns and kids. I could say I can start when you are an older kid, but most kids have little control of their diet and just eat what is provided to them. Let me start when you are on your own and have control of what you eat.

I will go over the various types of diabetes. Those for which you really have no control over. But Type 2 diabetes is the most common, and the one for which you can absolutely keep from getting if you just eat the right diet.

If you already have obesity, you can lose the weight with a weight loss diet, and then you can get on a proper maintenance diet to prevent getting fat again.

If you already have prediabetes, you need to get serious and it is still possible to keep from getting Type 2 diabetes. You must not only lose weight, but now you must be on a different maintenance diet, for the rest of your life.

If you already have Type 2 diabetes, you may not ever get completely rid of it. The correct diet and weight loss will probably prevent it from progressing, it will probably lower your use of diabetic medications, it may even be able to get you off all medications; but that does not mean you are normal.

I am going to not only advise you what to do, but explain to you why I am advising your thus.

A reduced calorie diet is the most often failed diet and does not work for most.

It is quite difficult to exercise your way out of obesity.
I would like you to avoid bariatric surgery except as a last resort, but even then you must change your diet.

You need to have a least a small amount of fasting.

You need to avoid most artificial sweeteners. That is for the most part.
I will tell you about the GLP-1 agonists They will work as long as you are taking them.

No matter how you may lose weight, that is no matter what weight loss diet you go on, after you lose weight you must be on a different maintenance diet. Not the one that made you fat to begin with. This includes those who took the GLP-1 medications. These are quite expensive and I do not think insurance companies will continue to pay for them your entire life.
