Nach seinem Studium der Musikwissenschaft, Psychologie und Philosophie in Bonn war er zwischen 1971 und 1986 als Gefängnispsychologe in der Jugendvollzugsanstalt Siegburg tätig. Seitdem arbeitet er als Kabarettist, Komponist, Radio- und Fernsehmoderator, Autor von Kinderliteratur,Hörspielen, Komponisten-Porträts und Opernlibretti, Sprecher von Hörbüchern und Musiker. Das Thema seiner Kabarettprogramme und Bücher ist das Rheinische und seine Ausprägungen in Sprache, Lebensart und Überzeugungen.
