About this listen

Not all demons are evil; some are just trying to survive.

Aurrynthea Shadow's Fire is not a typical young female demon. Born to a Dragon mother and a demon father, she is trying to resolve both halves of her nature and stay alive.

In Hell, magical strength determines who rules and Thea is the only fire demon offspring of Shadow Lord. When he names her his heir, all Hell breaks loose.

As the seals over the portals between Hell and Earthside fail, can Thea reconcile her Dragon and demon natures in time to prevent a war that would destroy both realms?

The performance by Krissee Sorensen was very easy on the ear and the subtle switches between accents wasn't jarring and you felt you were being told a good story rather than listening to a recital. Very enjoyable.

The book itself is fantastic. The world-building is handled expertly, the rules of magic is explained in a way that you understand without having to make notes or ask a random stranger.
The characters are easy to identify with. No matter how wild their situations are you always get a sense of their humanity (even though they're not human!)
The book has a driving plot with a few twists that are deftly handled. The tension is just right and the funny moments don't just land with aplomb, they somersault and strike a pose while the judges hold up "10" scorecards!
The amount of suspense makes me think that it's ripe for a TV adaptation. It's a BIG story and only a full exploration that TV can get away with would do it justice. Just keep it to 10 episodes so I could get the gardening done after a weekend of binge-watching.

You can tell that the author had fun writing this, it really shines through. From the very first page, you just know you're going to be told a great tale.

I loved it. In fact, I loved it so much, as soon as I've finished writing this review, I'm buying the next book in the series. I can't wait to read it.

This should be made into a TV series.
