The Definitive Guide
This book is, to my mind, the definitive 'how-to' guide for atheists such as myself. I have struggled for over forty years to get my point across when defending my atheism against theists in even casual debate. This is despite having read Dawkins, Hitchens, Boghossian, Harris et al. Although I understand their arguments, their language is too convoluted for me to repeat when discussing religion with another.
Mr. Toben has given us a real, practical guide with language that can be used in everyday conversation. He is deliberately repetitive, which he explains early on is a device to reinforce the points and to demonstrate that a lot of the arguments made in favour of religion are themselves repetitions of erroneous beliefs and invented 'facts'.
After listening to the audiobook I also bought the paperback so that I could easily access all the information whenever I needed to. I will be referring to this book regularly, I am sure. I would recommend it to anyone who has had difficulty defending atheism when confronted by well-rehearsed religious zealots.
