Narrator

This guys voice is so annoying I couldn’t listen to it for more than an hour. What’s wrong with just getting someone who doesn’t sound like mclovin?

Disappointing

I was disappointed with this book. The writer was a woman, Jennifer Arlington, but the book is narrated by a man which, I feel, causes some confusion in the flow of the book and to the understanding of some ideas. The narration is sometimes difficult to follow as words and sentences can be split in unnatural places. I am further puzzled by being unable to find any reference to the author’s qualification or background which I would normally require to treat the book as a worthwhile read. The ideas discussed seem to me very shallow in their detail and, in this audiobook, there appears to be little scientific underpinning from other sources which should be expected in a book like this. The use of language by the author seems too simple for the reader to treat the book as a serious piece of writing. Chapter nine, for example, is a case in point… ‘We are idiots now; we have been morons in the past and we will be idiots again in the future and that is totally normal. There aren't any readily available choices for a person. As soon as we learn to see ourselves as already, and by nature, absurd. It actually does not matter so much if we do anything that may look quite stupid. And the person we tried to kiss could indeed believe us outrageous, however, if they did so it would not be news to us - they would already be validating what we had gracefully accepted in our hearts long ago that we, like them, and every other person on the earth are something of a nitwit…’ Before buying a book, don’t just look at Amazon reviews but look at reviews on other trusted websites and check out the author’s credentials.
