Summary
After his brother is executed for treason, Ailig MacLeod returns to Castle Assynt bearing a heavy heart and a grim message: the Scottish king has ordered Ailig’s father to forfeit the clan chiefdom - or face deadly consequences. But before he can reach home, Ailig encounters Morainn MacRailt, a beautiful young widow living a solitary life in the glen. He is taken by her quiet confidence and the powerful connection that sparks between them, but his duty lies at Castle Assynt, where his clan is in turmoil.
Determined to bring the MacLeods to order, yet wary of whom to trust, Ailig makes a fateful decision: he offers Morainn the protection of the castle in return for becoming its chatelaine. Clever Morainn quickly becomes a valued advisor, and as the trust between them grows, so does an undeniable passion. Together they endeavor to restore the MacLeod legacy - and discover a once-in-a-lifetime love.

Nice Scotts Romance
There being a plethora of Scottish historical romances, it is difficult to find something unique, but Ms Wittig has done a good job of it. Some good twists take the story to the expected happy ending. Narration keeps the book from being 5 stars in my opinion, but doesn't ruin it. There are better narrators for the language.

Another entertaining Scottish Saga from Ms Wittig
This book transports the listener to the Highlands of Scotland in the times of Robert The Bruce and the clans he ruled. This is a sequel to Charming The Shrew, and tells two stories in one tale - the battle for Ailig MacLeod to claim the right to become the Chief of the MacLeod's as ordered by his King and overthrow his father - whilst also trying to win the heart of Morrain who has captured his heart.
Slowly, through patience, trust and respect we see that, even the impossible, just might become possible for Ailig who is a kind and honourable hero that you just can't help routing for (not your usual arrogant Alpha Highlanders). This has a great blend of characters, good and evil, all adding to the story which is enjoyable but won't have you sitting on the edge of your seat in excitement.
Worth a credit? Because of the price I'd say no just buy it and save your credits for a more creditworthy and costly book, or perhaps put it in your Wish List and wait for a Sale, but worth a listen? then it's a yes.

Story lacked the appeal needed for memorability
Just finished reading this book earlier today and have to say after reading it, I did not spend any time thinking about it at all. What that tells me is that even though the story was good, it lacked the necessary appeal to make me think about the book once I was done. The story lacked what is needed to have it standout amongst all other books in its category. So yes. I was somewhat entertained when I read it but will never read it over again.

A new favorite male narrator, Mr. Lister!
This narrator can capture female voices well. His reading voice is pleasing and his accents are well done.

The Amazing Macleods
I loved that this story picks up right at the end of Charming the Shrew..The story continues with suspense, action, humor and of course plenty of love. The narration was wonderful, giving life to the story. I highly recommend this book.

narrator
the narrator made everyone sound angry and loud. I have never heard a Scottish accent so pronounced. it should be more musical and less grating.

Better than expected
I really enjoyed this story and was much better than I anticipated. My only grief was with the narration. The narrator wasn't altogether bad, he just seemed to stop and start a lot throughout the dialogue. And the dialogue was always as though they were shouting or speaking forcefully.

Enjoyed the book/Series
I read the first book in the series, and downloaded the audible version for this book and really enjoyed it. I wish there were more books in this series available now.
