Summary
What are you waiting for? NA paranormal fantasy at its best by international best-selling author Tara Brown.
Someone is drugging the fairest of them all and hurting them in the dark corners of the forests around Port Mackenzie - shrouding the town in mystery and darkness. But nothing is as it seems. In the dark corners of the small town, there is also a light, a cure to what ails the sick. But everything comes at a cost, a price that must be paid. Aimee James discovers that cost the moment she dies. She discovers there are worse things than dying. She finds herself cursed. Discover how the Devil's Roses all starts because in the end it is the beginning that chooses who we will become and what side we will take.
Note from the author - This is the newly edited version. It won't ever be perfect because this is where I started; this was my first book. I don't even recognize the style of writing anymore, I have changed so much. So it is nice for me to be able to look at this and see where I started, how much I have grown as an author. We have gotten it as close to perfect as we can without ruining the experience of a debut novel by me, Tara Brown. Hope you enjoy, and thank you so much for listening to my beginning.

Brilliant series - get past the 1st book
I liked this a lot. The narrator was great and definitely made the story interesting.
I'm not on book 2 and it's so amazing. Really great storyline, loads of new characters with abilities. I'm so glad I continued with the series.

Different
This was not my usual type of book, so I was not sure how to score it. I prefer murder mysteries

Cursed but this series is really a readers blessing
Tara Brown is a phenomenal author and The Devils Roses is a tremendous series. Julie McKay expresses the true soul of these books as her narration pulls the listener into the scenery of each chapter. Cursed is the first book in this series and you will not be disappointed and will eagerly download the series in book form and audiobooks too. A great read, well worth the money spent. A series on my annual holiday reread list💕

Too much like a Wattpad story
The story felt like it was taken straight from Wattpad. From the overuse of "I" to start sentences, to the not-like-other-girls main character and her constantly smirking love-interest...
It might've peaked my interest when I was 13, but sadly not anymore.

Very average
I can see why the author puts a disclaimer in the blurb. Writing is very amateur and some of the conversations between characters are so forced, it if as if the author has never heard teenagers interact before. The narration doesn't help, the inflection a mix between confusion and pained. Decent as background noise only.

Waste of time
With all due respect to the altar the story could have been better it was such a waste of time listening to this and thinking it’s gonna get better it’s gonna get better but it never date the girl is a slut and she thinks bad of a sister how pathetic one time she said she is in love with Alexander then she say she is in love with Sean can’t believe it and this girl I assume never had love in her life which completely shows because she’s not able to understand her feelings properly she blames Alexander for everything in reality he was just trying to help her Shane loves her for all his life and she is using him as well the whole story is all about her which I can understand because there’s only one main character but there’s nothing happening there is no conclusion there is nothing to look forward so I am not listening to next door
