Summary

Don't you wish you had a magical device that could tell you everything that's going on in your child's head?

It's a lovely Sunday morning, and you had a nice quiet stroll in the park in mind, but your little one had other plans….

Barely three minutes into your stroll, unconsolable crying, screaming, flailing, and utter chaos ensue—and nothing you do seems to be helping. Now everyone's staring at you and making you feel like you're the worst parent ever.

You think to yourself…. If only you could talk to your kid and find out what the problem is—but you can't. Besides, you're probably thinking they're too young to even know what's actually bothering them themselves, let alone articulate their feelings to you.

According to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, “When we ignore our feelings it creates a 'boomerang' effect where the emotions will just come back later, and sometimes even stronger than they were before.”—And this is true for children, too.

As most of us know from experience, the emotional baggage we have from our childhood can be difficult, if not impossible to get rid of. And for some of us, this weight can be so unbearable that it keeps us from moving forward and getting anywhere in life.

The good news is…you can do things differently for your child. You can raise them to master their emotions—and be the master of their own destiny! —And with no fancy tools, tutors, or training required…just you, a little time and patience…and this book!

This easy-to-digest parenting book is filled with information and practical advice from a child speech and language therapist with over two decades of experience.

In this handy guide, you will discover:

  • The secret to never having to go through another tantrum again—learn how to get your child to tell you what they're feeling

Fascinating

The book, "Coping Skills for Kids: Help Your Children Thrive: A Parenting Guide for Developing Your Child's Resilience, Self-Confidence, and Emotional Intelligence Through 103 Playful and Engaging Games," is an exceptionally intelligent resource. With a collection of over 100 games, it offers a unique concept that fosters various essential skills in children, including confidence, intelligence, brain development, sharing, teamwork, kindness, and much more. Although my children are now teenagers and already remarkable individuals, I can't help but wish I had discovered this book when they were younger. The games within it are not only enjoyable but also strategically designed to promote growth and development in a fun and engaging way.

Magical guide to Child's mind

This book is a resource of practical advice, revealing the milestones of emotional development and providing you with the tools to navigate complex emotions. But it's not just about listening to your child; it's about truly understanding them. Discover their triggers and guide them toward effective coping mechanisms. Learn how to skillfully communicate boundaries in a language your child can comprehend, and watch as they become the masters of their own destiny. The wonders of body language are also unveiled within these pages, teaching your little one how to decode the signals of others while empowering them to control their own nonverbal expressions. Such a remarkable book.

This was very interesting

I know this was meant for relating with children, but I really saw this as a great way to also relate to adults; and that's how I'm going to use this information. This book approaches children from the premise that they are autonomous beings, which can be hard for parents and adults to remember. I loved when the author refers to kids as "Little People," because that just makes them independent beings with their own personalities.

The coverage of the aspect of Emotional Intelligence was wonderful, and so was the recap of the development stages. This is a wonderful book, and the narration was absolutely lovely.

EI demystified

I always wondered why we never learned about emotional intelligence when we were young. Then I resolved to parent better and found that I didn't know the first thing about teaching emotional intelligence to a kid. I've been trying though, and I feel like I needed this book earlier. I like that it talks about beginning the child on EI training from when they are a baby. That's not easy, but it can be learned. I enjoyed the chapter on boundaries because I felt validated that I am not messing up completely with my parenting, but my best chapter is the one on helping kids deal with big feelings. I will certainly be returning to that chapter several times after this.

Help Your Child With Emotions

As an adult, we have difficulty communicating our emotions to others. Can you imagine a child with a limited vocabulary and being in emotional distress? The best way to get children to open up is through nondirect interactions in which they communicate through actions instead of words. Playing and activities can put them at ease to be free and reveal their emotions. There are numerous ways to do this, but not every method will work for every child, so you need an arsenal for them. This book will equip you with various options from finger painting to playdoh to games. Be proactive and get this book. I highly recommend it.

Found this to be an extremely useful, and insightful guide in helping our kids both build their social confidence/resilience, and emotional intelligence. It lists a variety of useful ways to work through challenges that kids encounter, with strategies for addressing them that parents can deploy effectively. The author also includes a number of riddles/and puzzle games to keep kids engaged and challenged,

The narrator was easy to follow, and the author laid out the information in a way that was easy to digest and understand. Would definitely recommend for new parents, or anyone feeling slightly overwhelmed by the job of parenting.

Perfect Book for developing EQ in your child

As a father of a 2-year-old, I'm always looking for ways to help my child develop emotional intelligence and learn healthy coping skills, and this audiobook provided just that.

One of the key highlights of the book that really resonated with me was the emphasis on helping children learn to identify and label their emotions. As a parent, I want my child to be able to express their emotions in healthy ways and this book provided practical guidance on how to do just that.

Another highlight that stood out to me was the emphasis on building resilience in children. Learning problem-solving skills is crucial to handling stressful situations and building resilience. By teaching my child how to identify problems and develop solutions, I can help them become more confident and capable of dealing with challenges.

Overall, the main takeaway from this book is that parents can play a crucial role in helping their children develop coping skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. As a father, I feel empowered to support my child's emotional well-being thanks to this book.

I also want to mention that the narrator was a pleasure to listen to and made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this audiobook to any parent who wants to help their child thrive emotionally and mentally.
