Sencilla, clara y esperanzadora, Conversaciones con Dios I es una obra que tiene vocación de dejar huella. 

Había llegado el límite de su resistencia. Se encontraba en ese momento en que el dolor -el peor dolor, el que produce la soledad de espíritu- amenazaba con desbordarse en la más insondable desesperación. ¿Qué mejor prueba podía tener de la inexistencia de Dios que su insensato sufrimiento? Aunque si existiera y fuese Dios de bondad, ¿no podría, en su soledad, reclamarle como interlocutor? Este último gesto de espera obró el milagro. A partir de esta crítica experiencia vital, la serie Conversaciones con Dios es la transcripción del más infrecuente -aunque quizá debiera considerarse el más necesario- de los diálogos: a través de él se revela un Dios tolerante, tan conocedor de los fuertes anclajes morales de la mayoría de los seres humanos, como del intenso arraigo de sus creencias. Y por ello, más interesado en proponer a sus criaturas una actitud que en exigirles un código rígido y pormenorizado de normas.
