About this listen

‘Powerful, Uplifting, Personal Journey of a Woman who overcomes trauma and life’s challenges’

A personal story of how Vicki, in her late 40's from Midhurst, Sussex, found walking in nature around the South Downs gave her positive energy, a new self-confidence, inner strength and a stronger passion for walking. After overcoming the trauma of life changing surgery back in Feb 22, which left her relearning to walk over 9 months, she shares with you her emotional heart warming journey about how she fought her physical and mental demons, dealt with her diagnosis of health problems including EDS, and how she trained and completed 2 Ultra Marathons, a 800 mile Arctic Virtual Challenge and hundreds of training miles whilst raising money and awareness for charities the 14 months after her surgery.

Vicki’s adventures started 1 year after her surgery when she challenged herself to completing 10 miles in the beautiful countryside, proving to herself that she had done the right thing for her body in undergoing major surgery. From that day, she has never looked back. Discovering how walking in nature helped her to heal, how she became more productive in her day and how she dealt with life’s challenges whilst looking after her family, running a small business, dealing with her mothers Ovarian Cancer diagnosis as well as the loss of both grandparents to Dementia. Dealing with her own daily health battles with EDS and Raynaud’s Syndrome, she takes you on some of her most memorable walks during this time as she relives them with you. Sharing her experiences, memories, the sights, and the sounds, encouraging you to get out in nature and experience what being outdoors in the countryside offers you. Reinforcing that you can, even when times are tough and seem impossible, with sheer strength and determination, you can push your boundaries to points you never thought were possible. Never give up, put one foot in front of the other and achieve remarkable things

Captivating story of a young woman’s battle with multiple ailments that threaten to suffocate her life. Until she finds the courage and strength to start walking and raise funds for many charities close to her heart . She is an inspiration and living proof that if you have the right attitude, life can be very fulfilling. The narrator didn't do the story justice, I found her monotone and bland.

Incredible story
