spine-tinglingly good!

A haunting compelling and at times desturbing dramatisation, it had me gript from start to finish. With it's all-star cast, sinister music and scarey sound efects, this is a must for all horror fans, as ones who are new to the horror style. This book has been very well adapted for radio and is overall a stunning peice of radio theatre. I rate it 10 out of 10!

Excellent Radio Dramatisation

I disagree with a previous reviewer, that this is the most faithful version to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
However the quality of this production is outstanding, the cast are brilliant. It is also scary has Vampire horror should be.
Everything is greatly donee. A pleasure to listen to.

FANG-TASTIC

The best ever version of Dracula to date and also the most true to the book. It is actually scary. Not keep you awake at night scary, but chilling. The production is as you would expect from bbc radio; superb.

Great weekend story

it was very good. not too long and not too short. I did think the ending was a bit rushed and the killing of dracula sounded more like everyone was eating a bowl of noodles.

Scary even in the light of day!

Really, I was listening to this whilst working and I actually got so spooked that when there was a knock at the workshop door I jumped out of my skin. I thought that there was no way that Dracula story could be made better. I was wrong. I highly recommend this audio recording.

Frederick Jaeger as Dracula, BBC Radio 1994

After listening to three productions of Dracula this week it is surprising how different they are compared with each other. All were enjoyable and each had their faults/ positives; though if you wish to listen to a more faithful telling of Dracula I would suggest the Mark Gatiss version (Big Finish Productions).

Takes a different approach to telling the story - instead of the usual build up to first meeting Dracula the beginning of the story is told with flashbacks from Jonathan Harker’s hospital bed in Budapest.

Overall it is a good production, but both the lead female characters are voiced one-dimensionally. And it seems there were no children at the BBC studio that day as a small boy, Charlie, is unconvincingly voiced by a woman.

David Suchet as Dracula, BBC Radio 2006 (1hr 54mins)

Not so safe for work

Incredible performance.
A fine amount of shouting, yelling, crying and seducing, therefore I do not reccomend this one safe for work.
The dramatization is longer than your typical 45 minutes to one and a half hour dramatizations, therefore it's useful for longer train rides instead of short bus commutes.
Despite having difficulties following along I must admit that the performance and quality of this dramatization is superb.
An explained analysis is reccomended after listening the first time, you'll find one with a quick search on the interweb.
Take care now and watch for bitemarks.
