Summary

Detective Michael Bennett finally returns to New York City – and to the most unsettling, horrific case of his career. At last, Detective Michael Bennett and his family are coming home to New York City. Thanks to Bennett, the ruthless crime lord whose vengeful mission forced the Bennett family into hiding has been brought down for good.Back in the city that never sleeps, Bennett takes over a chaotic Outreach Squad in Harlem, where he receives an unusual call: a man claims to have seen a group of well-dressed men holding a bizarre party in a condemned building. With no clear crime or evidence, Bennett dismisses the report. But when a charred body is found in that very same building, he is forced to take the caller seriously – and is drawn into an underground criminal world of terrifying depravity.

Could be better

Only one narrator, no emotion in his voice, heavy new york accent, more actors needed, lost the story half way through, not one of pattersons best to be honnest.

Disappointing

This series started so well, but seems to have gone downhill in the last 2 or 3 novels. For a start, the books are too short, so there's not time to develop a decent plot. Storylines are started and then rounded off fairly hurriedly, so no real suspense. Michael should be likeable, but to be honest he's just a bit too annoyingly perfect, half of the characters are more like caricatures and I've just stopped believing in it all. Shan't be bothering with another one...

Brill

Love MB-this was in the usual league-the love saga moves on between MB and MC.....(marginally!). MB moves into a new role -which is very amusing. Some story lines were quite serious, but over very soon? Seemed like a bit of an undeveloped "lazy" shocker? (What happens re: Chrissy and then Seamus?)
