About this listen

The world died the day the power grid failed.

Civilizations crumbled and life ground to a halt. Those who survived the transition became something else.

Two years have passed since the lights went out. Crow and his small group of survivors have done their best to forage supplies and live off the land, but danger looms in every shadow. Marauding bands of Traders are on their trail, eager to capture them and worse. Fleeing, the band stumbles upon a secret they were never meant to learn. One capable of transforming the world again this time with dire consequences.

Crow is forced underground and discovers a forgotten world. Entire cities thriving with artificial intelligence still exist, forcing humanity down through politics, fear, and oppression. Trapped between an enemy they can't outrun and one they don't understand, Crow and the others stand at the edge. One path leads back into the growing wasteland. The other into a fate darker than any imagined.

The choice is before them: dive in headfirst or burn out with the light.

It was a bit disorienting with the many flashbacks, but the story was quite interesting. I do find that there is missing quite some explanation of the state of the world, which willl hopefully be answered later in the series.
Narrator was fine, however the quality/sound was not great.
But all in all a good read, and the next installment will be on my list, once it arrives.

I found the flashbacks a little confusing, the story was interesting. I would have liked more explanation on the state of the world and how it has happened. I’m guessing answers are coming. Narrator was very good with different voices for each character but the sound quality was a little lacking. All in all a good read. Looking forward to the next one.

I enjoyed the book, though in the later chapters did find the characters making references to events that hadn't been detailed a little confusing; I thought I'd missed a chapter somehow the first time it happened. I imagine those events will be made clearer in the second book. The narrator is very good at voicing different characters, including different genders. I'll be getting the rest of the series when it's released.

Interesting post apocalyptic tale

This book is a nonsensical waste of time.
The author spends most of the book telling flashbacks that are all basically the same.
It's full of overly verbose simerlys that make very little sense.
4 main characters have the same unnecessary back story that does nothing to drive the story forward.
1 character has a back story that is from another book entirely, but get crowbared into this book with the thin explanation that they live in an underground bunker.
IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Rubbish
