About this listen

A fast-paced fantasy adventure that will set imaginations soaring!

Twins Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive word in Lontown that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach the southernmost point in the world. Not only that, but he has been accused of stealing fuel before he died!

The twins don't believe the news, and they answer an ad to join a new attempt to reach South Polaris. It's their only hope of learning the truth...and salvaging their family's reputation.

As the winged ship Aurora sets sail, the twins must keep their wits about them and prove themselves worthy of the rest of the crew. But will Arthur and Maudie find the answers they seek?

This is a wonderful book for children. My son (9 years old) first read it at school and wanted to listen to the Audible version. The story is excellent, the characters are lovely. Unfortunately the accents used throughout are variable and quite distracting from the story.

Excellent story - accents are all over the place!

The imaginative world created and the journey through it. The ups and downs and above all a happy ending.

An exciting adventure

Such a shame but the narration makes it almost impossible to listen to. Fantastic story though.

Brilliant adventure

The kids love the adventure and the characters in the story. Unfortunately the narrator mispronounced many common words and was not really up to the job. There was also some irritating music and sound effects that added nothing.

Good story but disappointing narration

Love love the story, so did the whole family adults too, we didn’t want it to end.
Reading the book is better as the narration is not good & spoils the story. If he’d just read it as a story rather than make up these awful accents.

Fantastic story
