Summary

The beloved star of Star Trek, recent space traveler, and living legend William Shatner reflects on the interconnectivity of all things, our fragile bond with nature, and the joy that comes from exploration in this inspiring, revelatory, and exhilarating collection of essays.

Long before Gene Roddenberry put him on a starship to explore the galaxy, long before he actually did venture to space, William Shatner was gripped by his own quest for knowledge and meaning. Though his eventful life has been nothing short of extraordinary, Shatner is still never so thrilled as when he experiences something that inspires him to simply say, “Wow.”

Within these affecting, entertaining, and informative essays, he demonstrates that astonishing possibilities and true wonder are all around us. By revealing stories of his life—some delightful, others tragic—Shatner reflects on what he has learned along the way to his ninth decade and how important it is to apply the joy of exploration to our own lives. Insightful, irreverent, and with his signature wit and dramatic flair, Boldly Go is an unpauseable celebration of all that our miraculous universe holds for us.

Sentimental introspection by an acting legend!

I love anything by William Shatner. I love the sound of his voice having grown up as a Star Trek fan and I respect that he doesn’t always take himself seriously. Nonetheless the book rambles a little in the way that Americans often use ten words when just a few will do. Perhaps it’s the actor in the author that wants to dramatise everything but sometimes points being made take too long to make. Bit it’’s still an enjoyable listen. And there’s lots of new stuff not in his previous books. It’s written somewhat like an epitaph. This seems deliberate. William Shatner clearly relishes living and knows he’s not immortal. He discusses some interesting ideas and feels strongly about the world and our place in it. I hope this isn’t his last book. And I hope the tree he wants his ashes to be buried beneath grows to be strong and long lasting.

Where nobody has gone before….?

William Shatner remains full of energy, wonder & adventure.👏👏👏

Some new stories including going into space but sadly many retold stories from his other books.

Worth a listen but nothing “earth Shatnering”!

A life of wonder indeed, help yourself.

The closer I get to his age I feel the same attachment to risk and danger, the only mistake I can't amend for is not doing it sooner, this was a wonderful reminder of how to see the world... worthy of your little attention

Wise words

This was an exhilarating listen. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Shatner once and it remains a very positive memory. I can’t do justice to this book other than to say that 90 years of wisdom condensed into this was a really inspiring.

Listen to it and be inspired, one of the last true role models for turbulent times. The world will not be the same without Captain Kirk.

A very personal reflection of William Shatner at this moment in time.

In many ways, Boldly Go is very different from William Shatner’s previous books, all of which I’ve very much enjoyed. This book shows a man acknowledging his age, his accomplishments and his hopes for his future, for the future of those he loves and for the future of the world. He is recounting his past experiences to shine a light on those things yet to come.

Although I’m a little younger than Mr. Shatner, I’m going through many of the same thoughts and questions regarding legacy (which I find more compelling than he does), things we wish we could do over and the reality of being in the “other” age group. Boldly Go sounds honest, which I really appreciate.

The book has plenty of career and celebrity anecdotes and references but they have more of a purpose here than to name-drop. They are used of examples of how Mr. Shatner approaches his life.

I was concerned that this book might just be a repeat of previous memoirs. It is not. It is deeper. And as much as Mr. Shatner (and most of us) would like to look away from death, in this work, he looks at it with honesty as well as humor.

Shatner believes in saying “yes” whenever possible. I do too. That may be the secret of his not only longevity but of using that longevity to continue to enjoy meaningful experiences and challenges. Besides being entertaining, Boldly Go is a guidebook for how to live your life as we age.

A superb storyteller!

This 91-year-old seems to have the fountain of youth in his back pocket. With the wonderment of a child who eagerly soaks up the excitement of all new experiences that come his way. I absolutely enjoyed hearing Mr shatner recount his life's experiences and it seems to be obvious that his attitude toward life is what is keeping him from getting old and free from ailment.
I wish he didn't have such a fear of death though. The subject matter at this point has been so thoroughly investigated and is so popular a topic that I don't understand why he doesn't delve into it and pick out the common denominators from stories about the afterlife that have started from years ago up till this point. Really death is a part of life. I remember telling this to my dad who was dying from emphysema and toward the end of his life got scared and questioned his faith and asked me what if it was all wrong what if there's nothing there. I told him everything dies, it has been happening since the dawn of man and before and there is a system in place. Life continues in another realm and love keeps the connection between you and your loved ones. I watched my dad just before he passed. He was in connection with something and his fear left him.

BRILLIANT!

I could write a long review of how moved I felt so many times in this book, but I agree with Josh Brandon, Bill Shatner is simply one of the most interesting people to ever grace our planet. This book is brilliant. It will stay with me...

Transformative - excellent

I recently saw Bill Shatner live at the Rath of Khan.

I believe Bill Shatner recieves 100% out of life. if I could live my life at 50% it would be 50% more then now.

Shatner's philosophy is reliable & constant. He adds to my life & this book shows us how to follow.

Shatner is so entertaining. He speaks at the speed of light, where sst times I felt like, geez take a breath. Perspectives from a 91 yr old is honesty at it's best.
