What happened to Sean Barrett?

Not up to his usual standards... Disappointed! Almost glad it was just under 4hrs. Hoping the next Harry Hole will be back on form

dreary narration

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

Jo Nesbo is a good writer but the choice of narrator for this book is abysmal

Bring back Sean Barrett

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Different narrator

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Interesting to hear about a different side to Oslo

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

Good story, ruined by the narration sadly.

Slow

Slow story, slowly read, too much bad language for my liking, I think it’s lazy to resort to bad language to express emotions and I wish audible would offer edited versions as I like to listen when
I’m ironing, but with young children around this makes it impossible. The story overall wasn’t bad but I’ve read better.

Terrible narrator

Not up to Jo Nesbo’s usual standard but some of that may have been because of the awful choice of narrator.

Having purchased dozens of audiobooks from Audible I’ve yet to hear a worse performance. She sounds like she’s bored and doesn’t want to be there. Stephen Hawking would have been a better choice and less monotone.

Half decent story spoilt by bad narration

The reader for this book is quite a bad choice. Firstly, it could be a man's voice or a woman's. It's obviously meant to be a man's, so why not pick someone with a rich deep voice that sounds like a killer? Secondly, the reader affects an L.A. Noir drawl that's totally out of keeping with the Oslo setting. It's an ok story but I won't be trying another like it.

Glad to get to the end

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

Story didn't seem to be to usual standard but that could have been due to extremely poor narration which either made me want to sleep or made me depressed. Sometimes both

If you’ve listened to books by Jo Nesbo before, how does this one compare?

I think I've listened to most of, if not all, of Jo Nesbo's books with huge enjoyment. This one didn't come anywhere near

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on Snow?

Wouldn't have cut any but would have requested some to be added

Any additional comments?

I fail to understand why a female, with a strong American accent and such a monotonous style of reading was chosen. Totally wrong.

What a disapointment

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. It was terrible to listen to.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jo Nesbo? Why or why not?

I love Jo Nesbo books and have enjoyed many of them.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I thought I was listening to a woman's voice playing the part of a man. The voice was so monotonous. Why was it an american voice in Norway. So dull. When the main character was injured I was really hoping he would be dead so I would have a new voice to read the rest.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

I don't think so as there wasn't a lot to the story.

Any additional comments?

Next time I will make sure I listen to the preview.

Missing Sean Barrett

What did you like best about Blood on Snow? What did you like least?

The story was more like a screen play for a Cohn brothers movie. I missed the dulcet tones of Sean Barrett. The setting, like the characters lacked depth and could have been anywhere rather than Oslo. The punk New York accent and the Norwegian setting had me lost somewhere in the mid Atlantic

I set the speed to 1.5 and this sounded better than the "normal" setting.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

Did Blood on Snow inspire you to do anything?

Read the book instead.

Really not up to standard - dull.

Would you try another book written by Jo Nesbo or narrated by Patti Smith?

Probably not.

Has Blood on Snow put you off other books in this genre?

A little.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Just very slowly narrated.

What character would you cut from Blood on Snow?

n/a

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't buy this.
