I enjoyed the overall premise of the book with the training of dogs for the blind and family expectations. However, with one of the issues tackled being the focus on superficial attractiveness I thought it somewhat hypocritical to have both characters apparently beautiful. It is, however, a common trap writers fall into - flagging the issue that society favours the beautiful and then making all their characters gorgeous.

I bought this having read the ebook which I thoroughly enjoyed. I wanted to know how to pronounce the characters names.

I enjoyed the characters inner life even when I wanted to bang there heads together.

Steadily seductive storyline

Keep going with this enlightening tale of love blossoming between a blind and a sighted woman because it is worth persevering with despite a few clumsy plot contrivances and a terrible narrator.
I very nearly gave up on it because of the reading style of the narrator, who does not seem to empathise with the story and reads in a choppy, staccato manner, with a harsh tone that imparts very little warmth into what is an emotional tale. In an irritating addition, the narrator adopts an irritating style of speech that turns every sentence into a question. Fortunately, either she dropped the questionable style part way through or I became tolerant of it because it stopped grating on me after a while.
Ultimately I was glad I persevered and finished this audiobook, because it is a good story. However, it is such a shame that the producer didn't hire a reader who was more sympathetic with the narrative she was reading because Betsy Zajko really spoiled it.

As much as there was depth around the puppy training aspect I found the love aspect did not grip me or make me feel that these characters had any depth to their relationship.
