Summary

Scott Stabile's parents were murdered when he was 14. Nine years later, his brother died of a heroin overdose. Soon after that, Stabile joined a cult that would dominate his life. Through all these challenges, Stabile grew stronger and more committed to living his life from love. He forgave the man who murdered his parents, found compassion for his late drug-addicted brother, and finally walked away from the cult leader who had controlled his life for 13 years. He writes about these experiences and many other personal milestones in ways that are universally applicable, uplifting, and even laugh-out-loud funny. Whether trying - as we all must - to silence shame, show up for friends, or overcome dreaded what-ifs, Stabile shares hard-won insights that will return listeners to love, both of themselves and of others.

what a fabulous discovery

what a great book!
Scott Stabile was interviewed on the good life project by Jonathan Fields.
I was very curious. Turns out he is a fabulous well rounded human being who has really suffered & survived & thrives what an inspiration. Thanks Scott. There is a lot to being a human & it's a life long journey but Scott's book is like a lighthouse showing us the way to go.

A book that blows the heart open

I was recommended this book due to the work I do. I am a coach. My client said he cannot believe how this book is aligned with what I teach. I feel like making it a MUST read with my program! Everyone will find something in this book they can relate to and give deeper meaning to the experiences we deem awful.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This book was the first book I finished in my adult life. There wasn't a moment that I felt alone, nearly every word I felt like one of those conversations where you just keep saying, "me too!!" I barely had a chance to stop listening, I am forever grateful Scott opened his heart to share his thoughts, emotions, experiences, and words. Definitely not a one time read, and I recommend it to everyone I know who's ever lived through the struggle of learning to love or care for themselves. Haven't we all? <3 BIG love to you all, Thank you Scott Stabile!

Love this book.

I saw a lot of my own life here. The author has a great take on forgiveness, happiness, love and compassion.
Leaves me in a pleasant contemplative state of mind.

Great sentiment but....

I couldn't bear to finish it. Very slow going with many details of his life. The message is great but not really real actionable stuff to practically bring into one's life. This book was more about his personal journey of healing and transformation than something I'd recommend.

This is one I listen to regularly

When times are tough for me, I put this book on and it soothes my brain. Thank you!

Scott Stabile, I haven't watched the Oogieloves movie yet but dang bruh - Cloris Leachman, Christopher Lloyd, Jami Presley, Toni Braxton... it sure has impressive names attached to it.

Big Love Back!

Thank you, Scott, for reading this yourself. It was like having you here in the room. This is NOT just another self-help book, folks. It's a look at what's behind our struggles. Like hearing your own thoughts, finally in words that make sense to you.

Love & Forgiveness

If you are not a deep thinker, listen to this book! If you are, you will feel like you are listening to yourself a good portion. As a side benefit, I learned how to make the perfect cup of green tea. Yay.

Strong heart, Strong voice

Would you listen to Big Love again? Why?

Big love is a victorious story of finding joy and abundant love for self and others within ourselves despite traumatic events. Scoot Stabile has a beautiful and hopeful heart that is contagious in it's tenderness.

What other book might you compare Big Love to and why?

Whispers of Rest by Bonnie Gray resonates in the same way; a quiet and steady beauty found when we discover we are the beloved. We are worthy and we are enough.

What does Scott Stabile bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice is tender with conviction for freedom in love for all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It could have moved faster but yes.

Heartfelt Autobiography

Big Love is a heartfelt autobiography, however it didn’t land with me as a practical guide in any sort of way towards cultivating big love. While Scott has overcome many trials in his life I felt the book lacked any real practical explanation of how the day to day of overcoming those things took place.
Given this is the audio selection I must comment on the performance/reading… I wish more authors would farm out the reading of their books. Scott doesn’t really read the book with much cadence, instead he sort of trudges through it with a soft vocal fry that made me wonder if he enjoyed reading his own life story at all.
